A belated welcome!
[edit]Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, PellsPool. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- How to write a great article
Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.
Again, welcome! Charles (talk) 10:46, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

Your recent edit(s) to Pells Pool
[edit]Some or all of the content appears to be copy pasted.
Remember that you must write in your own words. We cannot copy and paste from other websites.
Please review your past edits and modify content you added so that there is no copy pasting or even close paraphrasing.
Please read WP:COPYVIO. Thank you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:30, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- Not sure how I respond, so typing in here. Hope that's right. The new text added to the history of the Pells Pool is similar to the webpages on the Pells Pool because I wrote it there! So they are my own words. No violation of copyright. Do they need to be different to appear on wikipedia pages? PellsPool (talk) 23:40, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- Because the bottom of the source says "copyright", the content cannot be copyrighted. Even if you are the copyright owner, we do not know that. Anyone can register an account and say they have the rights to some text. We must protect not only Wikipedia, but the true owner of that text, and we cannot be 100% sure that is you. So yes, please tweak the text so it is different. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:57, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- I can understand that! Makes sense to me. I will work on the amends tomorrow. Thanks. PellsPool (talk) 00:00, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- Many thanks, and again, sorry for all the fuss. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:03, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- No problem! If it wasn't for this kind of attention, wikipedia wouldn't be the remarkable thing that it is.PellsPool (talk) 00:04, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- I'm just one of many, and doing my best. Thank you for the kind words. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:16, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

A bit more copy pasting
[edit]Please see this. It shows some copy pasting that is still present. That tool can help identify copyvios. It is possible that you weree grabbing your copy, and modifying it to make it different. If so, that is unreliable. It is easy to miss something. Better is to make a line at your word processor and completely rewrite the text from the other side of the line. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:20, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- I haven't yet started work to edit and change since only just got my user name change. Will be trying to go through with good edit head on later today!Rob at Pells (talk) 10:51, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- Now undertaken extensive edit - can I use tool myself to check for copyright violations?Rob at Pells (talk) 14:50, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- I have brought the page down below 40% measure on the Earwig's Copyvio Detector.Rob at Pells (talk) 15:25, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- Splendid. Thank you again for looking after that. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:42, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

Your username
[edit]Your username implies that this is a shared or group account, or that it represents the organization. Please either abandon this username and make a new one, or, if you wish to have your editing history from this account be present at your new account, visit Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple. Cheers. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:34, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- The name isn't a group account - it's just me. I volunteer for the Pells Pool, hence my adopting that as my user name. Is the problem that the user name is same as an existing organisation, so it might appear to readers to be representative or a group account? If a problem, I can happily (well not entirely happily, since I like it!) change it. Thanks PellsPool (talk) 23:43, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- Fair enough. It is just that you've edited the Pells article. It is probably best that you make a new username. So long as it is not only the actual name of the place, it should be fine. Examples of acceptable names: Mary at Pells Pool, Pells Pool is lovely, etc. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:57, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- I shall ponder whether to be "name at Pells Pool" or some other altogether. Thanks. Will apply for change. And Pells Pool is indeed lovely. :) PellsPool (talk) 00:02, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- A good new name. :)

You are a good editor
[edit]I would like to say that you are a good editor. Once we sort out this minor copyvio issue and your username, all will be well. Please do not be offended or upset. This is all small potatoes. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:40, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks - I like learning curves.Rob at Pells (talk) 20:32, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- May need your advice on Lewes pages where what appears to be a politically-motivated editor Will Karr has reversed some amends I made to text he added which was a) not focussed on Lewes town and b) opinion (about why he claims Lewes is a "left-leaning" town). I have posted on his talk page and on the Lewes talk page so that might sort it.Rob at Pells (talk) 12:53, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
