To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your userpage.

Good intro

[edit]

Rmwheatley, You've written a good intro for yourself to the Wikipedia community. Two things you should experiment with:

  1. Internal vs External links. You attempted to make an external link to USI by copying the Wikipedia URL into the page. However, it's easier and best to just place two brackets before an after an article term to create an internal Wikipedia link, which is known as a wikilink. You can create an external link like you did with the URL. For instance, paste a youtube.com link in Wikipedia and put single brackets around it and you've got an external link.
  2. Try to use bullets. Most of the lists, like interests, are often unordered, and so you can place an asterick before the item. Or use the editing menu above when you are in edit mode and click "Advanced" for different kinds of bullets.

You are off to a good start! Have fun, Crtew (talk) 04:10, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Assignment and the HornAfrik overview

[edit]

Assigned Said Tahlil Ahmed, who was a director of HornAfrik at the time of his murder in 2009 in Somalia.Crtew (talk) 22:55, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

User:Mjmezo has been assigned to write about HornAfrik Media Inc., which operates Radio HornAfrik and HornAfrik TV.[1] User:Kmtedrow is writing about Ahmed Abdisalam Adan (also referred to incorrectly as Ahmed Mohamed Aden) (a living person) one of the co-founders and served as a Minister of Information. User:Blbiddle is working on a bio of another co-founder Ali Sharmarke, who was the director of HornAfrik when he was killed in 2007. User:Rmwheatley is researching another former director Said Tahlil Ahmed who was killed in 2009. Another Wikipedian created a page about a journalist and TV comedy producer Abdi Jeylani Malaq Marshale, who was killed in 2012. I wanted you to see the connections already at the start of the project! If you learn helpful information, feel free to communicate with each other. Crtew (talk) 00:28, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Usirjkelly peer review

[edit]

1.Great setup! Your article was very detailed and gave useful non trivial information about your journalist. It's really starting to look like a published wikipedia article. 2. I would add to the impact section. It would be interesting to hear about this particular journalists work and how they impacted field reporting in the area. Over all, it was very well done.--Usirjkelly (talk) 21:48, 24 October 2012 (UTC)Usirjelly[reply]
