Orphaned non-free media (Image:RF packshot copy.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:RF packshot copy.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:43, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

March 2009

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Helicopter Girl has been reverted.

Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): \bmyspace\.com (links: http://www.myspace.com/instantkarmauk).

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 11:01, 26 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Roddy Frame do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

April 2010

[edit]

Hi, Riverman48. Thanks for your contributions to the Megan Henwood article. One of the core policies of Wikipedia is that articles should always be written from a neutral point of view. Unfortunately, some of the content you added appeared to carry a non-neutral point of view (and was written favourably towards the subject), and so it has been reverted to comply with the neutrality policy. Your edits are very gratefully received however, and I would look forward to seeing you edit the article again in the future after reading the neutrality policy. Remember that if you are associated with the subject in any way, this may constitute a conflict of interest. This isn't generally a problem – all you need to do is remember that you're adding information for the benefit of Wikipedia, not for the benefit of the artist. Please let me know if you have any questions – I'd be more than happy to help! matt (talk) 12:02, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I appreciate that this is the artist's current promo biography and you're their manager, but you must understand that it is promotional in tone and not suitable for Wikipedia – see WP:NPOV and WP:PROMOTION for our policies on neutral point-of-view and promotion. It would be fine, however, to re-write some of the material you added and ensure that it's referenced by reliable, third-party sources. I'd be happy to run through the biography to help you do this, but bear in mind that I did this with the original draft of the article – so I am not sure how much more can be done. Remember that verifiability is one of our key policies – regardless of the accuracy of the information, it must be able to be verified by the use of independent (i.e. not related to the source) publications. Again, please let me know where you need help and I'd gladly assist. Cheers, matt (talk) 10:24, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Megan Henwood wiki copy.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Megan Henwood wiki copy.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Dharma Records

[edit]

You may be right, but the problem with this article was it spent more time in the lead discussing the label's founder than the label itself. It was also confusingly phrased, I couldn't follow what parts were record labels, which parts were bands and which parts were recordings. Could you also clarify whether you have a conflict of interest in this? What I have gathered from your edits is that you are the label founder. Creating articles about yourself in Wikipedia is strongly discouraged. Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 07:47, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

Hello Riverman48. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 20:31, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
