License tagging for File:Giant Otter "Anjo".JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Giant Otter "Anjo".JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 15:06, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Help with filename

[edit]

{{helpme}} I uploaded the image File:Giant Otter "Anjo".jpg, but I cannot make it appear in the Giant Otter article - there seems to be a problem with the quotation marks in the file name. I tried to change the file name to eliminate the quotation marks but could not figure out how.

This is an Otter.
To avoid similar problems later, I thought it best if I renamed the file.
It is now called File:Giant Otter Anjo.JPG.
I have also added the file here, using the following code, as an example;

[[File:Giant Otter Anjo.JPG|thumb|This is an Otter.]]

I hope that is OK. If you need any further help, please ask again. Best,  Chzz  ►  18:52, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Giant Otter Anjo.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Giant Otter Anjo.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 02:40, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I did create the image entirely by myself - I took the photograph on behalf of the Instituto Araguaia, which works with giant otter research and conservation. We mean for it to be freely available for any use, as long as it is attributed to Instituto Araguaia. I thought I had addressed that by including the "attribution" tag. What else do I need to do? Thanks in advance.

Because we don't know that you are legally entitled to speak on behalf of the Instituto Araguaia. You need to contact OTRS by following the instructions on this page: Wikipedia:Contact_us/Permit. Note that "Your e-mail address or that of the individual whose permission you are conveying must be clearly connected to the original source." So you would need to send your email from something like example@araguaia.org or have someone who is official send it from an address like that. Once you follow those instructions, they should be able to help clear this up fairly quickly. If you'd like any further help, contact me on my user talk page or put a {{help me}} template up on your own user talk page and someone will be along to help you. :) Banaticus (talk) 13:49, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Rio Cicica. You have new messages at Banaticus's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

I have removed the deletion tag, and marked the image to note that the email was sent, and it is pending OTRS review. See this edit.

Rio Cicica, processing can take many days, but you may use the picture whilst we wait - it will not be deleted. If there are any further concerns, then the OTRS team will contact you. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  17:12, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the other images - I'm sorry you got all those automatic "File permission" messages; I'll tidy that up.
Did you send permission for just the one file, or for all of them? If you have not done so, please send emails for all.
I will similarly mark them "OTRS pending" so that they are not deleted in the meantime. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  17:18, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Further file permission problems

[edit]

The same problem as described above applies to three further articles; I have condensed the lengthy duplicated template messages into a list, below.  Chzz  ►  17:18, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Armbrust WrestleMania XXVII Undertaker 19–0 16:30, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Note: As I believe Rio Cicia is emailing permission for these (or already has), I will remove the deletion tag from them and mark them as {{OTRS pending}}.  Chzz  ►  17:18, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Update - permission received

[edit]

I spoke to a member of the OTRS team, who located your emails. The permission is fine. A "ticket number" has been added to the four files, noting that we received the permission. So, this is now resolved. Thank you very much for contributing these pictures to Wikipedia. Chzz  ►  17:44, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable sources

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Giant Otter. Your image contribution and the knowledge that comes with it is just what that article needs. However, the article in question is a Featured Article and as such includes exclusively information citing reliable sources. None of your additions cite such reliable sources and are likely to be challenged and removed sooner or later. Therefore I invite you to find references to accompany your additions. Let me know if I can help you with using references on Wikipedia. Thank you. --Fama Clamosa (talk) 15:01, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

^Those images should now have OTRS tags on them indicating that they have been verified and are good to go. :) Banaticus (talk) 18:54, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good Rio Cicica. I tweaked the usage of references in the article. Again, thanks for improving the article, and let me know if I can help you in any way. Thanks --Fama Clamosa (talk) 19:07, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to add pictures I uploaded to articles in the Portuguese Wikipedia, but it does not work - the Portuguese site cannot find the images that appear on wiki.riteme.site/wiki/

I do I need to upload again tot he Portuguese site? That can't be - there must be a way to create an internal link.

Thanks, Rio Cicica (talk) 15:12, 11 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You should upload your images to the WP:Commons, a separate organization whose images are available to all the Wikimedia projects. See Commons:Welcome and Commons:First steps, also Wikipedia:Moving files to the Commons for how to move across files you have already uploaded here. JohnCD (talk) 15:20, 11 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Marsh Deer.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
