Illiterate?

Your [edit] seems to ignore the obvious fact that the linked site was a bad translation, possibly by machine. That's quite a distance from being illiterate. You might check Category:User_ru to find a human assessor for the Russian source.LeadSongDog (talk) 16:54, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Of course it isn't good enough, but the way to improve the encyclopedia is to fix it, not delete it. If need be, just comment out the bad link until someone can check the Russian source. And yes, before you ask, we do use foreign language sources as references.LeadSongDog (talk) 17:32, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Yes, bit of a tricky one. There is room to flag this in the debut field as I;ve seen done with other characters who have, for example, appeared in shadowy and in the background for a few issues beore being revealed. Personally I'd usually go for the first time we see them as being the main one, even if that is in a flashback. However, I could ask for clarification on this - I'm sure this isn't the first time this has come up ;) Anyway keep up the good work. (Emperor (talk) 20:00, 23 August 2009 (UTC))

Hi Richard. Emperor's absolutely right - I'm not doing in-depth analysis here. Moreover, the process is subjective. If you disagree with my rating, feel free to change it. I won't be offended. I am by no means the final arbiter. I can't even agree with my own assessments sometimes. ;-)

The keys for me in determining the difference between a start-class article and a C-class article are length and references. If the article seems kind of short, I'm more likely to rate it as start-class. It may be that everything known about the subject is included, but if I'm not familiar with the person, character, or storyline, I may not know that. Also, I tend to rate articles which have both links to specific issue #s AND links to reliable sources (magazine articles, books, etc.) higher than articles which have only the former.

I haven't reassessed this particular article, but again, it really isn't all about my opinion, so if you think it matches a different category on the quality scale, reassess away! Cheers, GentlemanGhost (talk) 00:18, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Richard75. As I've had a few articles reviewed in WP:GAN's "literature" category but I've not reviewed one, I thought of reviewing Democracy (Judge Dredd storyline). Unfortunately I think Democracy (Judge Dredd storyline) has little chance of passing at present, as the article is about a theme in the Judge Dredd stories, it's almost entirely in-universe and the sources are also almost entirely in-universe. In the worst case, if a deletionism or exclusionist found the article, it might be in danger of deletion. To improve the artcile's chances, I think you need commentary from good and independent sources. A possible type of source would be about analysing the Judge Dredd universe as an example of future society, e.g. in the context of science fiction stories to be set in dystopias and in non-democratic governments (in Judge Dredd's case, a sort of police state). If you can like, I can look for that type of source. Of course then I would be ineligible to review the article, but if it helps to get the article to survive and possible to reach GA, ... --Philcha (talk) 17:10, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
