Rich1vanwinkle (talk) 04:18, 15 July 2020 (UTC) Thanks for the welcome! Happy to be on board. This article fills a void created when a prior one was removed. Admittedly, it was poorly put together but it was removed (I think) due to "lack of notoriety". After re-writing the "SERE" article, I decided to take on JD Garcia - an amazing man who I had the pleasure of working with in the 80s. Because he never sought notoriety, he didn't get his due, but I found dozens of citations and many on-line testimonials relating to his influence. I would like to think that Wikipedia (and its editors) value influence/contribution at least as much as "fame". I welcome comments/corrections/suggestions.

COI notice
[edit]Hello, Rich1vanwinkle. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 04:15, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
Rich1vanwinkle (talk) 14:35, 24 July 2020 (UTC) And hello to you AngusWOOF. I have no conflict of interest regarding this person or any content in this article. As indicated within the content (and the fact that I use my actual name in as my Wikipedia user name), I have nothing to hide. There is NOTHING for sale here - indeed, every book referenced (whether Garcia's or not) includes a link to a free download option. There is absolutely no "compensation" involved here - other than to correct the flaw in not offering this content.
That I once knew Garcia can hardly be a basis for a conflict of interest - unless such knowledge involves a bias that alters the factual basis for the article. If you find ANY factual flaw in this article, I will happily either find proper support for it or remove it. To the best of my knowledge, everything in the article is accurate.
My interest in writing and proposing this article is only that I agree with many others that Garcia's contributions and work have merit and significance. His work was secular, scientific, and significant. He, and his publishers, believed it far more important that his publications be known than a profit be made from them.
