[edit]Hi Rhetoricanista, here are some thoughts on your sandbox:
- All articles should have a lead. The lead identifies the subject of the article, and provides a synopsis of the rest of the article. The lead goes before the table of contents. For a biography, it would begin:
- Amy Post (December 20, 1802 – January 29, 1889) was...
- Wikipedia section titles are written in "sentence case" not "title case", meaning that just the first word and any proper nouns are capitalized. So, for example, instead of a section "Early Life and Education", you would have "Early life and education"
- For biographies, people are referred to by their surnames, and not generally by first name alone. So you shouldn't refer to her as just "Amy", but as "Amy Kirby", "Kirby", "Amy Post" or "Post".
- It would be good to have consistency in how you identify racial groups. You have both "African America" and "Black"
Henry died when he was three years old. Edmond Post, Hannah and Isaac's son, also died at the age of five. Matilda died in childhood, as well
This could probably be one sentence: "Henry, Edmond, and Matilda all died in childhood"Hannah became critically ill and passed away
we avoid euphemisms like "passed away" and use "died", which is considered more neutral- I love to see every paragraph cited!
- I believe Underground Railroad is a proper noun, with both words capitalized
Overall this is looking extremely well developed. You have a clear structure, your formatting is correct, and the information you're presenting looks verifiable and well-supported. Thanks, Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 21:58, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
