Thank you so much for saving the Hound.Com article! I had researched thoroughly and never found the two major articles you did. Thanks!! Samuelmccarthy (talk) 04:56, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nice Job on the rewrite. It still needs a reliable third party source or two to establish notability as per WP:Notability. In case you don't know, you can go here [[1]] and get a list of all articles that need to be wikified. Keep up the good work! Dethlock99 (talk) 17:26, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo, but sorry, I don't think this was good work at all (!!!) It's not just been shortened, the additional information has been removed. The "geographical location" has been killed, the where and why has been removed as well. I can't see why this was done. (But now I expect further amendments to my articles). --Huligan0 (talk) 18:02, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Twinkle not working

[edit]

I've installed twinkle to revert vandalism but it doesn't show up...

Hi! First of all, have you followed the instructions on the monobook.js page and refreshed your cache? decltype (talk) 22:27, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Luiso Santos Sabrosa

[edit]

Hi, were you able to find any reliable info on the above article? I did a Google search but couldn't find anything about him, hence the A7, just wondering if I missed anything? RaseaC (talk) 23:20, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I didn't make the article I just tagged it for sources and wikification. RetiredCollector (talk) 23:22, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I know you didn't, I was just wondering if you had looked into it at all because, as I said I couldn't find anything. I've tagged it for speedy any way. RaseaC (talk) 23:34, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I looked as well and came to the same conclusion. Not notable. RetiredCollector (talk) 04:50, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Fiat S74

[edit]

I declined your speedy deletion request for Fiat S74, because it fails criterion A7: We wrote A7 specifically only for individuals, animals, organisations, or web content. I don't blame you for wanting to have the article deleted, though: It is in a terrible state. You can either improve the article, point out what needs to be improved, or nominate it for deletion per WP:AFD. — Sebastian 02:26, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've contested A7 for Douglas Otto, as the article does give a credible indication of his importance. A7 is a lower standard than notability; he may indeed not be notable, though he has picked up some press coverage and as well as being a schools superintendent he's an adjunct professor, so it is worth making a good attempt at finding sources before nominating the article for deletion. Fences&Windows 03:04, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for writing. A7 for Fiat S74 was an oversight. You're right about the article being in a terrible state. Terrible state or not, if I find it is or could be notable, I tag it with cleanup, wikify, internallinks, etc. I do check for sources but I've seen people, products and company with a lot more press coverage and high positions get deleted. Thank you for writing though because I started off more liberal about notability but have seen what were, in my opinion at least, clearly notable articles (ones with reviews in NYTimes, national TV news, and other huge media media sources etc) get deleted. I tightened my criteria for notability by following example even though I didn't agree. Question: A7 doesn't cover Douglas Otto? He falls under "individuals, animals, organisations, or web content." (I use Twinkle and it's a convenient tag but I thought it was appropriate..) RetiredCollector 05:22, 19 September 2009 (UTC) — continues after insertion below[reply]

The difference Fences and windows referred to is between speedy deletion and normal deletion. Speedy deletion is only for a small number of articles. The distinction between "notability" and "importance"/"significance" is explained at WP:A7. I assume the articles you saw deleted were either normally deleted, or they might have been mistakes. Not every administrator scrutinizes the criteria; some just go by their gut feel. — Sebastian 06:17, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wish you were an administrator, I'd want you as my mentor. I'm thinking I'd like to be an administrator too someday. Yours, RetiredCollector (talk) 05:22, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I assume you meant Fences and windows, who has a userbox saying "This user is not a Wikipedia administrator". One doesn't have to be an administrator to be a mentor; in fact, most mentors (listed here) aren't. I don't know if F&W is interested in mentoring and still watches this page; but it can't hurt to ask: Maybe they'd be happy if you asked them on their talk page. Or you could go to Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User and select a mentor. — Sebastian 06:17, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
RetiredCollector, I've never mentored anyone but I would be happy to answer any questions you have about editing, or to chip in if you'd like some advice. SebastianHelm, I've never seen that genderneutral template before, or heard of Spivak pronouns. You do learn something every day. Fences&Windows 22:03, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
