From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am a retail designer for a living. I design retail stores and have studied retail design extensively. I am also an expert in retail design history, especially with Dominick's, Meijer, Loblaw's and Omni Superstore. My information conveyed is based on my studies over the years. I have a degree from Purdue University in Interior Design BA 1999.

Where did I try advertising? I am trying to give facts about a closed supermarket chain called Omni. I want to be sure I do this correctly. I only want to verify the page about Omni Superstore. The store no longer exists and thusly it would be impossible to be advertising for Omni. The store was eliminated in 1997. Retaildesigner 00:23, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edits such as this and this. Links to commercial sites are normaly avoided, you can reference the External links policy. --Hu12 00:36, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi HU12, thank you for the advice. I wasn't trying to advertise Soundsphere and I will take that out of there, I was just trying to explain the sound system that the store possessed. With my other link, which the former Omni employee stated to me, is still the current day to day paging process and call handling that occurs at the current Dominick's stores. Any advice on how to cite that? Thank you, this has been tons of fun. I hope I am doing ok so far? (Retaildesigner 01:16, 18 January 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Thanks for the reply. Your doing fine, My error then. Have a look a look at WP:CITE, should be what you need. Have fun!--Hu12 01:28, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, what needs to be cleaned up on my Omni Superstore page? I think I fixed the grammar mistake. I saw a whole bunch of stuff got copied into my references and I cleaned it up. Hopefully that was the problem. Thank you

(Retaildesigner 04:24, 20 January 2007 (UTC))[reply]

I have added more facts about Omni Superstore on my page based on an Omni Phone directory from 1993. I added the locations of their stores and their current conditions based on field visits to the locations.

Per Image:Omni_Main_area.jpg, This file should be pertain to Fair Use as it is the only photo available that shows Omni Superstore from 1986, as the store is no longer in existence and there are no other ways to show this store with HID lighting. Also this picture represents a particular point in the buildings history, this is a photograph of the stores Grand Opening and no other photos are available than this one. After contacting Dominick's, the former parent of Omni Superstore, they told me they are no photos of this existing space currently in their facility. This book is no longer published and no longer available from the publisher Visual Reference Publications.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Omni_Logo_Only.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Omni_Logo_Only.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Highway articles

[edit]

Thank you for your recent photos and editing contributions! In case you didn't know, there is WP:USRD, also known as WikiProject U.S. Roads and WP:MSHP, the Michigan State Highways Project. The project guidelines are available on there. The project has established them to promote consistency and quality in the articles. Michigan is currently leading the other states in terms of quality, as shown on the leaderboard. (The column with the Ω/capital omega is the relative wikiwork, lower numbers are better.) Please feel free to ask around if you have any questions. We look forward to working with you! Imzadi1979 (talk) 03:46, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to have you aboard! There are also some great templates for citing source we use. The most frequently used is {{cite web}} as well as others for maps, books, news, etc. That's what I've used in the other places in articles. Feel free to go through M-6 if you want, and see if those lists can be turned into prose or something better. Trivia sections like that aren't well-liked on WikiPedia. As always, any questions, just ask away. I'm online for a while each day at some point usually. Imzadi1979 (talk) 15:17, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Meijer Holland Michigan.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Meijer Holland Michigan.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 04:10, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Omni Logo From Card.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 21:40, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of E-MetroTel

[edit]

Hello Retaildesigner,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged E-MetroTel for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Julietdeltalima (talk) 16:53, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please assist me on how to make this E-MetroTel page more wikipedia friendly?

You could try reading the guidelines and following them. You can get further advice from Wikipedia:Teahouse. Deb (talk) 19:40, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Deb's comment above. Reading established articles about businesses so that you understand what encyclopedia entries published on Wikipedia look and read like is important—lists of bullet points and services are appropriate for a professional directory but not an encyclopedia. Wikipedia is intended to be an objective, marketing-free reference tool, not an advertising or business promotion service. All the best-- Julietdeltalima (talk) 22:48, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I read up on the criteria and I came across Shoretel. What if I was to follow the same structure as Shoretel? https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/ShoreTel Is this an appropriate article? It hasn't had any tags for deletion.

The Shoretel article isn't perfect, but it does have independent references and no blatantly promotional wording that I can see. Deb (talk) 16:15, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your time Deb, I will follow this article more closely and follow the other non promotional methods.....and get those independent references! I appreciate your help. Have a good day.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:E-MetroTel, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 333-blue 23:27, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand? I wrote this article as least biased as possible and cited numerous sources. I referred to the Shoretel article that DeblDeb said was somewhat good to follow? Why the heck doesn't meet the standards? I also followed all of the instructions for writing an encyclopedic article. Are you only doing this because I am not representing a big company like Cisco or Shoretel?

This is from Deb:

The Shoretel article isn't perfect, but it does have independent references and no blatantly promotional wording that I can see. Deb (talk) 16:15, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

I have purposely wrote this article with facts that can be proved from the independent resources I cited. Where did I go wrong here?  :(
