Excellent work on the List of AFC Wimbledon seasons article! Do you think that the season summaries should now be removed from the History section of AFC Wimbledon? Dancarney (talk) 12:46, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Heads up
My friend Dweller replied here with some ideas on where to go from here. Have at it, and ping me (and/or him) later once you've done some. His suggestion are good, and like me is a bit of an old hack at FAC. Casliber (talk · contribs) 02:09, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
The discrepancy in appearances will be because Joyce counts the three games in the 1939/40 season before it was abandoned and some sources don't. I don't mind either way, but if you're going to change figures, it's best to add a source for the change, and not to mark your edit as minor. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:30, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- Ta. I've put the book refs inline now, and added helpful page numbers to mine, which weren't there before... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:52, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Luton Town FAC
I wouldn't want to drop the oppose until I've had a chance to take another look at the article. I'll make time for it either tomorrow or Monday. Meanwhile, did you get the independent copy-edit I recommended? The services of a talented copy-editor make FACs go much more smoothly than trying to push something through by yourself. Giants2008 (17-14) 02:25, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- For book based alternatives to historicalkits.co.uk, try nipping to your local library and/or bookshop to take a peek at a copies of True Colours by John Devlin, and Football Club Origins and Nicknames by Michael Heatley. Oldelpaso (talk) 16:02, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
- I've got both the Devlin books, the only thing is Luton Town aren't in 'em. Thanks for the idea though. I'll have a look for Heatley next time I'm down there. Cliftonian (Talk • Contibs) 16:04, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm afraid that I've had a bit of a hack through this article, but as ever if there's anything I've done that you don't like or you disagree with then feel free to revert it. I'm about ready to support after the copyediting that's been done, but I do still have a question mark in my mind about the use of flags in the article which I'll post at the FAC. Nice work! --Malleus Fatuorum 21:57, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi! I'm pleased to see someone interested in French lower leagues...However, as the club played around France's seventh level or so, I wonder if this squad list would be useful...Mainly because it is an amateur level, all players would not meet notability criteria. Their official site doesn't even give it [1]. Your only source would be local newspapers. So, just wait them to get promoted around 5th level, it would be easier to find something. However, coach A. Marinkov played in England and Scotland, and is notable. Cheers.--Latouffedisco (talk) 11:56, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

I'm seriously impressed you got it sorted so quickly, took me weeks to rationalise my lot. I'll have another look at it later, cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:21, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

No problem, I've been told before that I write in a sarcastic tone of voice. Usually people tell me this long after I've upset someone, once it's too late to do much about it without sounding totally insincere :-( cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:43, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Hatters
I presume you'll see my note at Malleus' page, but just an apology that I've been so slow and I'm probably going to leave the job half done. I'm not happy with the section about the controversial owner - some work's needed on adjectives. I'm also unsure about recency issues, but that's best gauged at the end of the c-e. Good luck with it. If I get some time and headspace, I'll be back but please don't count on me. Many apologies. --Dweller (talk) 15:50, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- I've added my own FAC comments. There's nothing major, just a heap of minor things. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:53, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
Just want to say that I've been impressed with the cheerful way you've handled all the comments during this FAC Cliftonian. I begin to believe that the article may just get over the line. :-) --Malleus Fatuorum 21:05, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
Players list
Few odds and ends, I'll have another look when I've got time and when you may have done a bit more to it:
- Key. The colour/symbol/column stuff is a bit confusing at the moment. Maybe some of the US sports lists can help with layout, as they use colour more than the English. Your notes colour will needs a symbol.
- Soccerbase isn't any good as a source for international caps, it's not something they do, as Chris Coyne#International appearances and his Soccerbase page will demonstrate.
- It's unusual to have the country column containing the descriptive "Fooish" rather than the country "Fooland", and linking to something related to ethnicity or demographics. Per MOS:ICON#Use of flags for sportspeople, player nationality in a sport-related list should refer to sporting nationality, i.e. the country they played for or were eligible to play for. For instance, Maik Taylor is a NI international, but has no other connection with that country: as a British citizen born abroad he was eligible for any of the home nations, but describing him as Northern Irish or linking his sporting nationality to People of Northern Ireland would be to say the least misleading.
- I'd call it Forward rather than Striker, which is a very modern invention.
- Not sure I'd have Winger as a separate position.
- You're probably OK with Soccerbase for the player apps post 1996/97, they seem to include the FLT in 1997/8. Be wary of the totals for players who started in Bailey and finished in Soccerbase...
- If you're having to force-sort your <100 apps, why didn't I? what's different? or does mine not sort properly and no-one ever noticed?
- Note "d" at the bottom of the list links Soccerbase to the page for some other club entirely :-)
hope some of this helps, cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:08, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- It's up to you: if you're comfortable with your reasoning for the nationality links, then leave them, but if Maik Taylor'd rather play every week in the Conf rather than playing second fiddle to Joe Hart in the Prem, you may change your mind. Technically, if your column's headed Nationality then the content should be Fooish: my column's headed Nation, so I went with the straightforward way of displaying and linking the country, which was the {{FOO}}-type template, except I used {{fb|IRE}} for pre-1950(?) Ireland, and obviously never considered the historically-appropriate South African flag (daresay there are more of those in the second half of my list). cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:42, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- fine by me, but don't blame me if someone wants to know why so-and-so is linked to the England team if he didn't play for it... The answer, by the way, is because that's the team of his sporting nationality as per the MoS link mentioned above, obviously, an answer I wish I'd thought of when considering doing the same thing. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:51, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Okęcie Airport Incident
Hi Cliftonian, I just want to say thank you for helping out with the Okęcie Airport Incident article. I appreciate the time you have devoted to the improvement of it. Thanks again. Tymek (talk) 05:15, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
Okecie Incident
Of course I will help you, and I am really glad that you are so interested in it. There is a major problem, however. Sources are scarce, and it will require a lot of digging through the internet. Anyway, you can count on me. Tymek (talk) 02:47, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- As you may have noticed, I have been adding sources to the article, trying to expand it. My time is rather limited, but I will do my best, so keep an eye on the article. And a question - in the article, there was a quotation of Boniek, who called the incident "the most dramatic moment in my career". I do not see it now, unless I am blind. Perhaps it would be good to bring it back. Tymek (talk) 19:13, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- I have serious doubts if we will ever be able to promote this article to GA. After looking for sources for hours, I have found very few of them. And I do not have any books on Polish football of the 1980s, so I have to limit myself to what I find on the web. And there is not much. Tymek (talk) 19:40, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
location map at Wimbledon F.C.#Move to Milton Keynes
It seems to me that this map is quite exaggerated because of the location pointers you have used. The size is such as to mislead casual viewers into locating a site is at the centre of the triangle rather than at an (inconsistent) tip of it - nor is it clear which tip is the relevant one. I think you should look at this one again. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 15:08, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks - though you got in first and ruined my demo. I simply swapped which one used -se and which used -nw, which made them look like cosy neighbours! The dots are NPOV. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 15:14, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Luton and Watford rivalry
No sweat.
Are the results in the Watford home section correct? Far be it from me to gift you lot a win, but I did a manual count last night and I made it 19 away wins for Luton, 26 home wins for Watford. I don't have a source so I was working on the basis that that table was correct, and it doesn't seem to have changed. WFCforLife (talk) 20:36, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
Man City FC FAR
Hello Cliftonian. I noted you have semi-retired (a pity) but there still remains an outstanding FAR which I'm happy to handle in Oldelpaso's absence. You made a number of really useful points and I was hoping you could respond at the FAR with, if you wouldn't mind, a summary of the things that still need to be addressed. I've responded to quite a few of your points but perhaps insufficiently? Let me know. All the best (and consider that I support the only club in the top five tiers of English football without a win, despite having the richest manager and 30th richest man in Britain as an owner...) The Rambling Man (talk) 18:21, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- Just wondering if you think the work is adequate on this one. Cheers, Marskell (talk) 16:17, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Ooh, go on then :D – it's about time I did another spoken article. I've got a free weekend coming up (apart from watching the FA Cup 1st round, of course), so look out for an upload by Sunday. Hassocks5489 (tickets please!) 09:06, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Done and added to the article. Shame about the Rochdale result today. We had a high-score draw as well: 4–4 against Wycombe Wanderers! Hassocks5489 (tickets please!) 22:21, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- I listened to it on the radio; although it was extremely entertaining, it was dominated by shocking defending and odd refereeing decisions. I think a lot of the craziness was attributable to two players being sent off in the first half (!). There were three penalties as well. Weird! Hassocks5489 (tickets please!) 22:42, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:EduardStreltsovUSSR.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:EduardStreltsovUSSR.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock (TALK) 23:20, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Streltsov
Really nice article. I'll definitely give you a review at some point over the weekend. My only big gripe would be a lack of Torpedo details. The focus on his international career is fine, but according to his infobox he was a prolific domestic player, are there any more highlights you could add? The Rambling Man (talk)
- Yeah, I can imagine sourcing that kind of thing would be difficult. I mentioned it predominantly because I'm sure it would be brought up at FAC... good luck with the digging... The Rambling Man (talk) 11:16, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

- I've done a GA review on this article, and placed it on hold pending the resolution of a couple issues. I've left my comments on the talk page. Please let me know when you would like me to take a second look. Cheers! Resolute 00:04, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
- And I have passed the article. Grats! Resolute 22:04, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
- A thorough copyedit from a couple of people experienced at it would be the most important need prior to a FAC. You can list it at WP:PR (which is hit and miss) and try to engage a couple of people at the football wikiproject who are experienced with writing FA articles. As is always the case for me, I expect your biggest resistence at FAC would be the quality of the prose. If possible, it would be nice if there was more discussion of his post-jail career, as it is discussed in far less detail than his pre-jail career despite covering a longer period of time. Hope this helps! Resolute 22:20, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Luton Town F.C. league record by opponent
An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Luton Town F.C. league record by opponent. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Luton Town F.C. league record by opponent. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:06, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi, as someone with experience of FAC and familiarity with football articles, I wonder if you'd mind reviewing Manchester United F.C., which is currently a featured article candidate.
P.S. If you don't mind me asking, what prompted the move to Zimbabwe?

Luton-Watford scorers in competitive matches
You probably won't be interested to know that I now have Watford Season by Season book. But I mention it because if the Luton one is similar, it means that between us we should now have the goalscorers for every competitive match between the clubs. I was thinking of expanding the tables along these lines. I only did the Watford one because it was tedious putting the extra columns in, but the Luton one would obviously be identical, except with your scorers coming first. Do you think it would be a good addition? WFC (talk) 20:45, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm, guess it'll have to wait a while longer then. My only trips north of Watford for the forseeable future are both to Stevenage: one for a Watford match and another for a music festival. WFC (talk) 00:30, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
