First edit comment

[edit]

Hi Reito-maguro, You asked about the "this user's first edit" comment in the Talk:Dokdo discussion. There's no policy against beginners voting or participating. In fact, I hope you will continue to participate! What's not allowed is for one person to make many accounts just so that they can vote many times, or for someone to get all their friends to come and enter votes when they would otherwise have no involvement in the Wikipedia. You can find out more about this in Wikipedia:Sock_puppet and Wikipedia:Single_purpose_account. The talk page for Dokdo is currently suffering from a flood of sock puppets or single-purpose accounts espousing the Japanese point of view. If your first edit is a vote on a controversial issue related to your home country, it looks suspicious. But if you continue to edit Wikipedia, working on other articles and engaging in meaningful discussion, it will be clear that you're not a sock puppet. --Reuben 17:03, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Reuben, thank you for your kind answer. I understand the context and background of the comment. The disussion on the note of "Dokdo" triggers for my participation. I deeply regret the present state of the note and hope meaningful discussion based on neutral point of view. I edit only the note yet, but I will steadily try to edit other articles. Thanks.
Excellent. I believe that you want to help make the encyclopedia better, and not just to make sure that your country's view wins out. That's a good attitude, and I hope you'll keep participating! I also have a question for you: is the Takeshima article in the Japanese Wikipedia encouraging people to flood the English Wikipedia's talk page with comments? I'm asking not because I think you have anything to do with that, but just because you can read Japanese. Thanks. --Reuben 04:44, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for you ask. I check in brief because I am at work. It is the announce only of the previous vote (Please see the date of 2005/5/1, it is written in last year.). It is not related to the present vote.

Chiba article

[edit]

Hi again Reito-maguro, I'm glad to see you're sticking around and having some good dialog on Talk:Dokdo. I noticed that the article about your hometown is pretty bare. Perhaps you could add some more information, or some pictures to show what the city looks like. --Reuben 05:49, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your suggestion. I attempt to add details of Chiba. Thanks.Reito-maguro 06:35, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Now I find that my knowledge is very poor about Chiba. So I want to translate Chiba-related articles in Japanease wikipedia into English. Can I do so? I worry my violation of author's copyright. Reito-maguro 06:44, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes! You can definitely translate from the Japanese Wikipedia. That's a good way to start. --Reuben 07:43, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately repruduction of pictures in Chiba-related articles of Japanese wikipedia are prohibited for their copyright. In this edit, I give up explainment of its location and so on, but add some historical informations. Reito-maguro 11:02, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Reuben, thank you for your corrections in Chiba city.Reito-maguro 08:29, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A welcome addition to Wikipedia!

[edit]

I just wanted to say that I am glad that you have decided to stay, Reito-maguro. It's nice to know that at least one fair, reasonable person joined Wikipedia as a result of the Talk:Dokdo affair. I sincerely hope that more Japanese people will join and contribute to the discussion and help improve all articles here at Wikipedia!

Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump.

You can always go to my Talk page, if you need any help or just someone to talk to.

Again, welcome!--Sir Edgar 02:06, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How are you liking Wikipedia?

[edit]

Reito-maguro, I haven't seen you around lately and was wondering if you are enjoying it here. Are you learning more English? Your English seems very good to me, by the way. I haven't been very active lately, but if I still do check to see what's going on. If there's anything I can help you with, please let me know.--Sir Edgar 07:37, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dokdo RM poll

[edit]

Hey, could you participate in a new poll for Dokdo? The candidates include Liancourt Rocks, Takeshima, and the new Takeshima/Dokdo variations suggested by user:Macgruder. I'm informing you because you voted on the last poll. Thanks. (Wikimachine 18:58, 21 May 2007 (UTC))[reply]
