Feedback on Article Proposal & Edits

[edit]

Hi, Team Insects! I'm sharing some feedback on your proposed edits.

First, the article is a good one, as it's flagged for problems with tone, a lack of citations, and a need for the attention of an expert in paleontology.

You've identified some potential sources, which is good. I would focus your efforts on places where "source needed" is indicated. Remember that you should use primary sources when writing your article, so something like the NPS or SI fact sheets you listed aren't appropriate sources -- but the references they cite would be. If you have questions about what constitutes an original source, check with me and/or consult the Wikipedia materials on references.

One thing to keep in mind when you work on grammatical errors is that British English is acceptable in Wikipedia. One of you noted that "fossilised" was misspelled in the title, but it's actually correct, just the British spelling. Make sure you check before you correct any spellings.

At this stage, you should be actively working on your edits. I recommend copying the page source code and starting to work on your edits in your Sandbox ASAP. Send me a note when you're ready for me to evaluate them, so I can give you some feedback and approve your edits before you start to move the mover to the actual page. Let me know if you have questions. IceAgeDoc (talk)
