Draft move
[edit]When I said it's not ready, I meant it's not ready. You didn't make any changes or improvements, you just moved it back into mainspace. Don't do that.
And to make sure you don't do that, I've move-protected the draft. You can work on improving it. DS (talk) 06:06, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

Milen Manoj Earath
[edit]Hi. I did some work on Draft:Milen Manoj Earath. The changes can be seen here. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 16:23, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hello, User:AlanM1
Thank you for taking a look at my draft: Milen Manoj Earath. Appreciate your help. There is a wee problem with the lead section that you had editted. Unfortunately these 8 grades do not refer to the Indian education system, but to the grading system of Trinity College, London. So, it has to be mentioned as '8 grades'. Also, in the place from where the subject is from, Earath, refers to a big family of people, and refering to the subject as 'Earath' introduces an element of ambiguity because it can refer to any member of that particular family. Kindly advice. Thanking you, Refluxdonut (talk) 17:03, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
- With regard to the name issue, it is true that most surnames refer to multiple people, but because the article is about this particular Earath, it is mostly unambiguous because of the context. It's generally more formal to use the surname, and it is Wikipedia's policy per the MoS for India. I checked a couple of other Indian BLP articles, Pranab Mukherjee, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi, to verify that was the usual style here, too. I gathered counts of first+last/first_only/last_only, ignoring notes/refs/etc.: 47/17/110, 54/54/215, 25/4/120, 12/3/103. A lot of the first+last instances are reasonably explained as honorary naming of things, ambiguous discussion of other people with the surname, etc., but first_only is clearly unusual (in these articles, anyway). It might be worth a discussion at WP:WikiProject India or WT:MOS if you feel strongly that it is unbearably awkward.
- As far as the grades, I tweaked it a bit more for clarity here – have a look. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 23:26, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
- User:AlanM1 Ok, got that. I checked the other articles you had mentioned, it's true that now it sounds more formal and encyclopedic. Thank you. Regarding the grades: in Trinity's system, first comes an initial grade before the 8 grades, which is not usually counted into the syllabus. By their system, it's as if the initial grade acts as grade 0 before stepping into grade 1. Do you suggest to refer to those as eight 'initial' grades or just as eight grades ?
- Thank you for your time, Refluxdonut (talk) 07:50, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
- Oops! Sorry about that. I mis-read the TCL article. Assuming the Initial Grade was part of the 1.5 years, how about something like "... youngest Indian to complete the Initial Grade and Grades 1–8 (in a span of just 1.5 years), ATCL, LTCL ..."? —[AlanM1(talk)]— 08:44, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
- User:AlanM1, no problem, yes, I think that would be the best option. But the problem is that though by Trinity's system, an initial grade exists before the grades 1 to 8, none of the sources indicate a word about the initial grade. Would it cause problems ? If not, then your suggested sentence would be great. Thanking you, Refluxdonut (talk) 10:46, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
- Good job on the details! I would just suggest changing "all eight grades" to "Grades 1–8", since there are actually nine grades. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 18:01, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
- User:AlanM1, got that. I thank you very much for your time and for the valuable feedback. Do you think the draft will be accepted? Sincerely, Refluxdonut (talk) 18:27, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
- I don't know, really. I've not been involved much in new articles, especially about pianists. My focus is on technical style, markup, etc. I'll keep an eye on it and help out if I can. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 23:38, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
- Ok. Thank you very much. Really appreciate it. 😊 Sincerely, Refluxdonut (talk) 09:29, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
P.S. User:AlanM1, I just forgot. Is the lead section good? Can the template be removed? If not, kindly advice. Thank you 😊
