Irish Stepdance Page
I could use some help from someone who has a little knowledge of Irish Step Dancing and possibly some updated pictures. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ReelAngelGirl (talk) 14:35, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
- Also be aware that the page requires references, otherwise any of the information on the page can be deleted. Hohenloh + 03:15, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
- I understand. Thats why I need help. I have a crappy computer that shuts down internet explorer on most web sites. I tryed to edit some stuff but I think most of the article is original research and outdated information. ReelAngelGirl (talk) 14:07, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
- I'd help out if I could but, although I play and know enough about Irish traditional music, I'm not at all au fait with Irish dancing. If I can help in the way of editing or associated tasks, please don't hesitate to get in touch, regards, Hohenloh + 04:04, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

- These are two versions of a part of the blocking policy in spanish. The second one is from the Spanish Wikipedia and the first is a translation from the English Wikipedia.

I would like to add refs to Irish stepdance in the coustume area from the major designer's pages. I was curious if these were ok?
- The Eire Designs does have a website but it has not been updated in a while. http://www.gavindoherty.co.uk/
Thanks in advance! ReelAngelGirl If I do somthing wrong please let me know 21:17, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- Hi ReelAngelGirl, when I look at those articles, I don't really see much content that could be considered an independent secondary source, that would be good as a reference. There are some pictures there, but those are not freely licenced. How were you planning to use those sites? Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 22:59, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- I thought it might be good to have them attached to the designers, like "proof" of them. I am trying to not leave them uncited. I wouldn't be useing the photos. ReelAngelGirl If I do somthing wrong please let me know 23:29, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- Those would not be ideal sources for that. I can imagine you think that 'official' sites are the best, but in fact they are not. It would be much better to have a main stream secondary (news) source with editorial control (see WP:PSTS and WP:RS) that says these are typical designers. I've formatted the WikiProject Cleanup page to include members for those that are interested in joining, similar to how other projects have members. Since you've contributed relatively recently to the project's list page, I formally extend this invitation to join WikiProject Cleanup! I've also created a userbox template for members to use on their user pages. Thank you for your contributions to help improve Wikipedia! Northamerica1000(talk) 08:33, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Teahouse updates
Hi ReelAngelGirl! A few updates for you about Wikipedia:Teahouse, since you're one of our awesome Teahouse hosts!:
- The host lounge is open! Please take time to review the materials in the space and start contributing to the how-to pages. Your input is valuable. Not only is it great practice to get our minds thinking like hosts, but, you can also provide easy to understand instructions and sound bites for fellow hosts!
- Join the conversation by participating on the host lounge talk pages[2][3]. We also have an IRC channel now for hosts to get to know one another, develop your skills, and eventually the channel will serve as an additional help space for new editors!
- To visit the IRC channel: #wikipedia-teahouse connect (Feel free to ask me for help if you're having trouble connecting!)
- Let new editors get to know you by creating your Teahouse profile. Contribute your profile on the host page at the Teahouse! This serves as a fun way for new editors to get to know the people behind the usernames. You can post a photograph of yourself or an avatar, add a quote about yourself or something you enjoy, and share projects and activities you participate on wiki (with wikilinks).
Very exciting things are taking place, and we'll be opening the Teahouse no later than Monday. Feel free to ping me on or off wiki, and I can't wait to work with you to welcome new editors with a warm cup of tea :) SarahStierch (talk) 03:38, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

The Tea Leaf - Issue One - Recent news from the Teahouse
Hi! Welcome to the first edition of The Tea Leaf, the official newsletter of the Teahouse!
- Metrics are out from week one. Week one showed that the need for Teahouse hosts to invite new editors to the Teahouse is urgent for this pilot period. It also showed that emailing new users invitations is a powerful tool, with new editors responding more to emails than to talk page templates. We also learned that the customized database reports created for the Teahouse have the highest return rate of participation by invitees. Check out the metrics here and see how you can help with inviting in our Invitation Guide.
- A refreshed "Your hosts" page encourages experienced Wikipedians to learn about the Teahouse and participate. With community input, the Teahouse has updated the Your hosts page which details the host roles within the Teahouse pilot and the importance that hosts play in providing a friendly, special experience not always found on other welcome/help spaces on Wikipedia. It also explains how Teahouse hosts are important regarding metrics reporting during this pilot. Are you an experienced editor who wants to help out? Take a look at the new page today and start learning about the hosts tasks and how you can participate!
- Introduce yourself and meet new guests at the Teahouse. Take the time to welcome and get to know the latest guests at the Teahouse. New & experienced editors to Wikipedia can add a brief infobox about themselves and get to know one another with direct links to userpages. Drop off some wikilove to these editors today, they'll surely be happy to feel the wikilove!

Disambiguation link notification for March 14
Hi. When you recently edited Dora Wasserman, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ukrainian (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Angel wing gif
I can edit the wings to black on one side for you. They are black outlining white insides now, so the black side (left or right as we look at it?) would be uberblack. Do you want the black side to have a white outline, or just knocked down to a greyish that will still show the outline?--Canoe1967 (talk) 23:20, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi! The black wing would be on the right side. It might be better to do greyish so it would have the black outline. Thank you! ReelAngelGirl Talk to me! Tea? 11:42, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Unlinking
Hello Ayla.
May I ask why you unlinked the expression Factotum on the Jack Harkness article page?
Also in the same session, you unlinked the term couture.
The reason I had linked the word Factotum in the first place is that I had felt the need to look up what it meant. Even though in this case I had actually heard the word before, it is almost never used here in Australia, so I wanted to reassure myself that I understood what the article meant by its use. As my vocabulary is generally quite good, I make such edits in good faith on the basis that there are most likely other readers who would choose to do the same thing, and this would probably apply in many English speaking countries where certain terms like this are not commonly used for a variety of cultural or historical reasons.
Additionally, the fact that I linked to a disambiguation page was quite deliberate and intentional in view of the best simple explanation of the term was to be found there, rather than any of the other pages referenced from the disambiguation page. You will note from the edit summary that I specifically mentioned having done this. Anyone looking for further information could choose to follow the links on the disambiguation page as they wished.
On scanning some of your recent edits, I notice you remove quite a lot of links, but do not give any reasons for doing so. Whatever your reasons, I feel it does not show good faith to remove the work of other editors without providing some explanation of why you have done so. If you feel you have good cause to remove links, or otherwise reverse the well intentioned work of others, then please say so - a simple explanation in the edit summary may suffice, or on the talk page if more detail is required. Your failure to do this might be considered inflammatory by some editors, or downright vandalism by others. From a quick browse of your user pages I'm convinced your intentions were most likely quite reasonable, and hence why I am editing your user talk page with this message.
By politely asking you for your explanation, and at the same time offering mine, I hope that I am demonstrating good faith, and trust you will treat it as such.
Regards,
Peter b (talk) 15:24, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hello Peter. I was attempting to remove the disambiguations using the Dabsolver and didn't realise it was done right before I edited. I hadn't looked at the history and didn't see your edit summary. Sorry about that. I'm kind-of new with working with dabs and am learning as I go, so thank you for letting me know. Would it better to link it to Wiktionary? Anyway I undid my revisions. ReelAngelGirl Talk to me! Tea? 16:42, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks Ayla. The Dabsolver also reported to my talk page that I had linked to a disambiguation page. As the Dabsolver message says, Such links are almost always unintended.... In this case I certainly felt the disambiguation page was quite satisfactory as I explained, and hence why I explicitly mentioned it in the edit summary. Having corrected a few links to disambiguation pages myself, I tend not to unlink the original term, but rather to apply the most appropriate link I find on the disambiguation page instead. It is sometimes difficult to make the judgement in this regard, but you can only do your best. Your observation about linking to Wiktionary would certainly be an option, however, it is marked as an offsite link, so there may be some reluctance to follow it. Peter b (talk) 22:41, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
- Just to add - I really like your work in general offer my sincere compliments for the effort you have made here on WP. Your WP skills and knowledge are very well developed to an extent that I just don't have and may never do, and I applaud you for that. Of course, one reason for that is my own editing is often irregular and sporadic depending on other commitments, and in my own opinion, pretty basic - but I really enjoy it. My knowledge strengths and main interests are chiefly in the areas of science and technology, but I regularly read and edit pages for other topics as well. With a highly regarded English (language) and History teacher for a mother (and whom I am currently living with and caring for), these are areas I am also quite competent and with access to excellent resources. If you don't mind, I would very much appreciate your help and advice from time to time in order to improve my own WP skills, and in return am most willing to offer you any assistance I am able to from my own competencies. Cheers, Peter b (talk) 22:41, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
