Removing Russian/Ukrainian combat losses

[edit]

I reverted your removal of Russian/Ukrainian combat losses. I don't fully understand/agree with your argument that combat losses should not be listed for ongoing conflicts. I could see potentially removing combat losses by specific variant, but that requires discussion. Schierbecker (talk) 02:09, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
I believe it should be removed for a few reasons. There isn't an equipment loss counter on equipment for OTHER ongoing conflicts, or the majority of historical conflicts, meaning this is not the standard for articles. Additionally, if you compare these articles to other vehicles around the world combat loss data tends to come with either an interesting anecdote or a link to battle the losses happened in. These are just numbers devoid of context. I think in order to preserve the encyclopedic nature of Wikipedia and a neutral POV, it should be removed. I started with former Soviet vehicles, but I'm planning to do the same for NATO donated vehicles as well. If you look at pages for armored vehicles not in this particular conflict, I don't see any that have combat loss data without a story to tell or some operational information attached.
If you could offer some logic for including it, I'd like to hear it. RedKaladin (talk) 02:43, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
