Thanks Recurring dreams, It took a rediculous amount of time to write..think I got a bit carried away haha. I though about adding it to Did you know but wasn't sure what the Suggested fact should be. Any ideas? Cheers! Loopla 12:42, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Recurring dreams, Just thought I would let you know that I finally got around to adding Silma Ihram to Did you know. I've suggested: ...that Silma Ihram, an Australian convert to Islam who strived to establish a school for Muslim children, has been described as "Erin Brockovich in a hijab"? Do you think that's ok? Loopla 03:11, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- Oh haha, thanks for that!! I should have checked before I nominated. So will it definately be going up?? Very exciting..never had an article on DYK before. Loopla 03:22, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

You're a sysop!
Hey there. I'm pleased to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except patent nonsense like "aojt9085yu8;3ou"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, block anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on articles for deletion for more than 5 days (provided there's a consensus), protect pages when asked to, and keep the few protected pages that exist on Wikipedia up to date.
Almost anything you can do can be undone, but please take a look at The Administrators' how-to guide and the Administrators' reading list before you get started (although you should have read that during your candidacy ;). Take a look before experimenting with your powers. Also, please add Administrators' noticeboard to your watchlist, as there are always discussions/requests for admins there. If you have any questions drop me a message at My talk page. Have fun! =Nichalp «Talk»=PS Please add you name to WP:LA!

I rewrote the Walkley Awards description of the Glenne Milne incident. I think the new version addresses that concerns about direct quotes from newspapers. The sentences have been rewritten, so I don't think there are any directly taken from newspapers, except for the Mayne quotes.
For the average Australian, the Milne altercation is probably the most they know of the Walkleys! For that reason, I don't think it breaches WP:UNDUE, as it was a significant and memorable incident. I sent you this message, because you commented the previous time. Thanks, Pigmypossum 02:46, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
Manipulation of WP
I read an article in the newspaper about manipulation of Wikipedia a few months ago. A few days ago, I saw a message board about someone banned from WP by a moderator just because he didn't like what was said (even though other message board contributors failed to see anything bad about the edit).
I just came across an article about an American presidential candidates Hillary Rodham Clinton being one of them. The moderator there is bullying others and striking out comments. He claims socks but this is just an excuse for eliminating any discussion. As far as the comments that he objects to, they are nothing radical.
In fact, I just put a suggestion there and I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to eliminate me. If so, you should make the correction to the Prentice Position article. It has a major error. MD12752 04:19, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- FYI: This is another sock of banned user Dereks1x, posting in evasion of his ban (the third one uncovered yesterday); account is now blocked. Tvoz |talk 16:25, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
RE: Michelle Grattan
Ok, so what was exactly wrong with the edit? If the wiki entries for Andrew Bolt and Janet Albrechtsen incorporate criticisms, why should the entry on Michelle Grattan - who arguably holds a more formidable position in the media - be exempted from this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.175.153.88 (talk) 08:40, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Tell you what, your comment that "Grattan is one of the most respected journalists in Australia." is self-conjured, and the claim that the "'The Reader' published "Australia's first Bias-O-Meter", rating the political bias of various prominent Australian journalists. Grattan was placed in the "straight-as-a-die" category, with her only bias being "towards truth in political coverage." on the Bias-o-meter" is not substantiated either. The sources you quoted are an invalid links.
Double standards, aren't we?
- I have edited the entry again to give it a more neutral, objective gloss. Rather than deleting the entire section, it would be more constructive for you to point out as to where and what is unsatisfactory. Heck, why not edit it to your liking?
- Fairfax Media has always openly acknowledged to be left-wing to begin with(which is not derogatary per se).
- Most wiki entries for Australian journalists enjoy their fair share of criticism - and not always backed up by references. Should those entries be edited too so as to conform to the standards set by this particular wikipedia entry - irregardless of the veracity of those statements?
- "Objectivity has about as much substance as the emperor's new clothes.” (Miller)
- I give up.

Soliciting a pattern review
Hi, I thought I'd have a go at rewriting the 15 WA federal division articles to make them a bit more professional. If you could have a look at Division of Moore and let me know any ideas for improvement/repair I'd be most grateful. Cheers Orderinchaos 05:43, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

AfD for Matraville Public School
It would appear no one bothered to let you know that the article you created on Matraville Public School is proposed for deletion (here).
In considering whether this is more notable than any other primary school, it occurred to me that this was Bob Carr's primary school and that he attended his first ALP meetings there. I think this is referenced in "Mates" but I can't check until this evening.
Do you know if this is correct, and if there is anything else about the school that might be added regarding notability? Euryalus 21:51, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- No worries. You're right about the Soldier's Settlement School too. "Mates" doesn't say which primary school Carr's meetings were at but even if it was Matraville PS this is a limited claim to notability. Just thought you should know about the AfD. Euryalus 22:20, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
