Hi Rdernbach, and thank you for your message on my talk page! I completely understand that it seems like a bit of a double standard - however, there is an important difference between wikilinks (which lead to a Wikipedia article) and external links (which are governed by Wikipedia's external links policy). If a company is notable according to Wikipedia's definition of notability there can be a Wikipedia article about it, and links from other Wikipedia articles can then (sometimes) be added.
