I did read the techne article, and you have done well. But I'm not giving you another barnstar. Law of diminishing returns, you know... Elijahmeeks 16:09, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
UC Merced
[edit]Rayana,
Welcome to the Wikipedia!
Thank you for your contributions to the University of California, Merced page. Are you by any chance an Afghan student at UC Merced?

UC Merced Needs a Local Chapter
[edit]I think we should get this started at the University: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Local_Wikimedia_chapter Elijahmeeks 16:11, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
I'm sorry Elijah but I don't think I understnd what you mean by a UCM local chapter. Are you talking about the non-existant philosophy club? I don't know the inner workings of Elijah so telling me about a local chapter without being specific will only severely confuse me. I know what a local chapter is, but it is usually associated with a club or something like that and you didn't mention a club or anything like that. I asked Meg and Mikey and they said you might be talking about the Discordian society or sausage and pankcakes (don't ask). Rayana fazli 20:06, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
Well I read the link that you posted up about the local chapter and I get it to some extent. But all the chapters that have been started are focused on geography. Also what I got is that the point of a local chapter is to expand the wikipedia project. So from what I understand (which is not a lot) is that you want UCM to have a local chapter to spread the word about the wikipedia project. I might be completely wrong here, maybe I am "reading too much into into it." Rayana fazli 12:58, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
So Elijah, what can I do for the local chapter as of right now? I don't feel like I am doing anything of significance. When you stopped by, you seemed to be in a rush so I didn't get everything you had to say. I remember something about mediawiki and a portal and wanting to set up a Central Valley portal. We need to have a pow wow and discuss what it is we are doing. I am really interested in starting this local chapter and I am committed to it, but I am still a little oblivious on how we are going to set this up. Rayana fazli 23:38, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks

Counter-vandalism
[edit]Hey- I caught that while watching recent changes with Cryptoderk's Vandal Fighter. I have it set to show me all new pages and all edits over a certain size. I saw an anonymous user removing large amounts of information from a talk page; it's not likely there could be a good reasn for that, so I looked at the diff and reverted. If you want to do any vandal fighting, I highly recommend this tool. There is also more information on the Wikipedia:Recent changes patrol and Wikipedia:Counter Vandalism Unit pages. License tagging for Image:Centralvalley.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Centralvalley.JPG. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:05, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Central Valley
[edit]Hi there, I've just joined the California Wikiproject. I'm dropping you a note because I notice you're interested in the Valley. I am interested in working with a group of editors to improve the Central Valley's Wikipedia presence. For example, the Central Valley (California) article is assessed "top importance" but has the lowest possible quality rating. You seem especially interested in water infrastructure. I'm a student of water law and would like to better highlight the role of water in the Valley, especially the CVP/SWP. If you're willing to help with ideas or writing, then by all means drop by the project talk page: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_California. Thanks! ferretstew (talk) 09:46, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
