Template:Public_Universities_in_France
Hello ChrisDHDR,
After several months of working on this template pretty much on my own, I'm very happy to see someone else take an interest in it.
The map that you have added certainly does help people see where the academies are.
On the other hand, we seem now to have lost the compactness of the old format, which allowed the entire list of universities to be seen in one glance. And now, if one wants to navigate from university to university using the template, one has to click once to open the template, possibly scroll down within the template to find the university one is interested in, and then click again. I am concerned about the effect on the ease of navigation.
Please excuse these comments, as I see you've invested quite a bit of careful work into reformatting the template.
But perhaps the same goal of situating the different academies could be accomplished by placing the map on the page that lists the universities by academy?
Regards,

What sort of clean-up do you suggest to the List of public universities in France by academy?
MyPOV 19:14, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- The clean-up tag refers to Wikipedia's quality standards, which is a quite detailed list of specific recommendations. I'd be happy to try to bring the page more into line with any of those recommendations, if you can specify one or more that it currently fails to meet. If no such failings can be identified, it would seem to me that the tag should be removed.
- Best regards,
- MyPOV 04:39, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- Regarding your recent changes, having the table of contents at the right, putting the external links to the academies in the titles, and making "See also" no longer a title do all make things more compact and improve the overall appearance.
- However, I wonder whether removing the external links to the universities is an improvement or not. The point is to be useful to readers, and there's now no longer one place in Wikipedia that gathers these external references. I'm not sure I understand the point about advertising. After all, every individual university page provides an external link.
- This is similar to my concern about the revised template format. It seems that we're requiring readers to make extra clicks to navigate through the information, whereas we could make it easier for them.
- Best regards,
- MyPOV 11:13, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- Fair enough. And I suppose the links have outlasted their primary initial use. When I started the list, there were no articles for many of the universities. The list certainly looks better now than it did before.
- I do remain concerned about the revisions to the template, which really seem to me to bloat what was previously rather compact and to make navigation harder, not easier than before. We basically have two presentations of the same information: the page and the template. Isn't the page the better site for a more verbose and illustrated presentation, and isn't the template better off as a compact and accessible guide to navigation within the category?
- Best regards,
- MyPOV 15:33, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- Sure, I'll go ahead and do that now.
- Best regards,

- Thanks! You made my day. :) MyPOV 16:02, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
France Portal - Featured Portal!
I just wanted to thank you and the others who helped improve and get Portal:France "featured portal" status. Thanks - NYArtsnWords (talk) 00:00, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
It's been one high aiming month! The French WikiProject and related pages have been aiming high for Christmas - and have received an equal number of presents in return!
- The French Portal is now a Featured Portal!!! It passed its Candidacy with 100%. Special thanks go to NYArtsnWords and all those that have made this Portal work.
- The Newsletter has made it to a second issue. You can find its page at WikiProject France/Outreach/Newsletter and its archives at WikiProject France/Outreach/Newsletter/Archives.
- A new page has been setup (WikiProject France/Links) to provide an index of the Projects/Portals pages (as well as helping newbees). When creating any pages in the Project/Portal namespace, please add them to the index page. This page also give WP:FRANCE members a handy watchlist.
- As like last time, members are asked to renew their memberships at Wikipedia:WikiProject France/Members.
- I will be on holiday when the next issue is meant to come out so could some generous person(s) please do the next issue at Wikipedia:WikiProject France/Outreach/Newsletter.
Well, that's this issue. Au revoir et à bientôt till the next time, ChrisDHDR (19:00, 9 December 2007 (UTC)).

Speedy deletion of Template:List of SNCF stations in Midi-Pyrénées/TOC
A tag has been placed on Template:List of SNCF stations in Midi-Pyrénées/TOC requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Rambo nation?
Hi. Regarding the userbox template {{User South Africa}} I'm confused as to why you have now changed it to say "this user comes from the Rambo nation" -- I'm sure "Rainbow nation" would be a bit better, but in any case, why "Rambo?" Do you think we can change it? Rfwoolf (talk) 12:13, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:AGV.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:AGV.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 22:04, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Hot carl
A tag has been placed on Hot carl, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. KevinCuddeback (talk) 16:16, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis
I know, it struck me as strange too. Shtis is what IMDB had for the English "festival title". I don't think IMDB has made a mistake with the S, as this reference uses the same spelling. Similarly, the German title given is "Willkommen bei den Sch'tis". I agree with Charvex in so far as we should use the titles given by the studio, not translate them ourselves, so I used the strange Shti spelling. Nick (talk) 13:06, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
It'd be rather nice if, the next time you "borrowed" someone's design, you didn't leave such things as their names and links to their pages in the borrowed design. I got a very confused email regarding your userpage on Meta.
I've taken the liberty of correcting the errors and pointing it at your accounts instead of mine.
You may wish, to avoid impersonators, to go to special:preferences and merging your accounts. This prevents other users creating a username identical to yours on another project. See m:Help:Unified login for more information. Kylu (talk) 06:27, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
