Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Raman Research Institute. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Raman Research Institute, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). [edit]
Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. -- LuK3 (Talk) 15:33, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I am trying to update and am a representative of my institution

Decline reason:

This does not address any of the concerns raised. Please reread WP:USERNAME, WP:UPE, WP:COI, and WP:PROMO. Yamla (talk) 15:44, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Raman Research Institute, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Dear Raman Research Institute (talk) 05:22, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Falcon,[reply]

My apologies for trying to make edits from the institutional ID "Raman Research Institute" as well as my account "Abigailrri" . I was not aware about the war edit as well as the prohibition from using two accounts to make an edit. I have posted a request via the "Abigailrri" login as well. I did not read through the guidelines from either account, properly prior to performing the edits and hence did not know what the talk pages were about. And that's a reason, I happened to ignore the warnings giving via "talk'. My sincere apologies for all the errors caused while making the edits. I am not sure how to request an unblock for both my accounts, though i have tried to do so from "Abigailrri" as well.

I assure you the same mistakes won't occur again. Also requesting you , to guide me on how to request a major change to Raman Research Institute Wikipedia page. There are some major changes required on account of change in the director as well as the ongoing research associated with the institute.

Its my humble request, I did not intentionally start any edit war or want to be under sockpuppet investigation. My intention was purely to suggest edits to the "Raman Research Institute" Wikipedia page, as an employee of the institute and as requested by the authorities. I did not intend to cause any disturbance or abuse the resources.

Request reason:

Apologies for using the official institute login(Raman Research Institute) and later my personal login (Abigailrri) , I was not aware about the prohibition of using two accounts to make the edits. I did not read through the guidelines prior to making the edits. I can assure you, the edits made through the institute (Raman Research Institute) as well as through (Abigailrri), was not to override the edits by Wikipedia without permission. I was not aware about the blunders made until now while reading through the guidelines.

Please guide me as to what is to be done next in order to be unblocked and permit me to suggest the edits to wikipedia. Requesting you to please unblock my IP address and both my log in ID's, The errors occurred including the war edit wont happen again , I did'nt realise that wikipedia was reverting the edits initially. Until I saw the view history. Initially I was under the impression that there was an error occurring on my part as to why the edits were reverting back. Only when the authorities went to check the Wikipedia page in order to share the same, is when it was brought to my notice. After which I understood what the talk page meant. I assure you, I will put forth the edits as per the guidelines of wikipedia.

It is my humble request to unblock the accounts. The edits suggested prior to the page is a major edit and the same is because of the various developments taken place ever since the page was previously edited, including the change in the name of the authorities of the institute. The institutes website may be used as a source of verifying the same. My humble request is to please unblock at least the institutes official Wikipedia account as well as the IP address of the same. I have put forth the same request through my personal account, "Abigailrri". Hoping the appeal for the unblock will be granted in order to suggest the updated version of information that is required for the official Wikipedia page Raman Research Institute (talk) 05:44, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

We will not unblock both accounts. You seem to misunderstand policy regarding accounts- group/organization accounts are not permitted on the English Wikipedia. Each account is for the exclusive use of a single person who may not give others access. (other language versions of Wikipedia permit and even encourage organization accounts, but we prohibit them.) We can unblock the account under your personal name since your probably don't want or need to change the username of this one. If you have requested unblock there, this can be handled there. 331dot (talk) 09:06, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your prompt response and clearing the misunderstanding I had regarding the policy of group/organization accounts not being permitted on the English Wikipedia.
