Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 07:20, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Me

[edit]

Hi, it has been pointed out to me that you may be under the impression that I am an administrator here on en-Wikipedia. I am not and I have never claimed to be. I am not sure where you got the impression from, but no worries. I do spend a lot of time dealing with subjects related to India & probably do count as someone who has a fair amount of experience in that area, but I do have not that status.

In any event, and as any admin would tell you, administrators are in most cases "just another contributor". Yes, they have been granted some extra tools to assist in keeping this project on course but when it comes to content disputes etc they have to decide either to get involved in the dispute or keep away from it. If they get involved then they cannot use those extra tools; if they keep away from it then they can use the things. Therefore, justifying an action that you make in a content dispute etc on the grounds that "an administrator agrees with me" is something that really does not hold any water.

Please note that even administrators are subject to the consensus of the wider Wikipedia community: they cannot just do as they please. I hope that this clears things up, although I suspect that an administrator would say it better than I have done. - Sitush (talk) 00:03, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
