Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Poovankurichi, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. GoddersUK (talk) 15:21, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Photos in article

[edit]

Hi, I have notcied that you have reverted my deletion of the photos from Poovankurichi. I would ask you to please read Wikipedia:Image use policy#Adding images to articles, in particular the section on galleries. It says "The images in the gallery collectively must have encyclopedic value and add to the reader's understanding of the subject." Your gallery of pictures is very nice, but there is no encylopedic value in picutres of a "beautiful leaf". This article is about the town, so the photos must be relevant to that. I am therefore asking you to remove the irrelevant photos.
Also, the long list of common animals is not encyclopedic. I suggest you remove that also. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 04:37, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

My comments above also apply to the photos in the Tirunelveli article. Many are irrelevant to an encyclopedia article about a town. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 05:01, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes - please do not insert undue/unref content.Ssriram mt (talk)!
It seems you do not understand encyclopedia value and keen on fill up images even for small articles. Do not add more and irrelevant images. --AntanO 14:33, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If do not listen and keep adding non EV images to the articles, I would report your activity in admin's noticeboard. --AntanO 16:34, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Sivasailam for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Sivasailam is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sivasailam until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Hello, Rahuljeswin, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! 220 of Borg 12:24, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, your recent edits adding links to commons pages is a good idea. However, simply adding a bold link is not the correct way to do it. I am trying to find the best way to do it now. Once I do, I will show it to you. Regards, AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 05:19, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, so I have found the way to do it is by simply adding {{commons category}} to the last section of the page. I have done it at Sivasailam, Gadananathi River and Poovankurichi. I suggest you use it at other articles too. Good luck! AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 05:33, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Sethu Bhaskar Matriculation Higher Secondary School. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Sethu Bhaskara Matriculation Higher Secondary School. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Sethu Bhaskara Matriculation Higher Secondary School – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 13:42, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Asian Month is COMING!

[edit]

Hi Rahuljeswin ,

The Wikipedia Asian Month will begin in less than an hours, and once again, thank you for signing up! Let's help the world know more about Asia! Below are a few reminders for you:

  1. Please check out the rules here. Some rules have been adjusted—the most important being that on the English Wikipedia, stubs may be expanded with some limitations.
  2. Do take the time to read the Q&A if you have any questions, or ask on the talk page.
  3. The list of participants has been alphabetized so you can more easily find your name and report your contributions.
  4. There is a template that you can use on your user page. {{Template:User Asian Month‎}}

Enjoy the Wikipedia Asian Month :) --AddisWang (talk)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of District Science Centre, Tirunelveli, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.dsctirunelveli.org.in/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) CorenSearchBot (talk) 07:39, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Rahuljeswin, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your addition to District Science Centre, Tirunelveli has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. MER-C 17:46, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Karuthapillaiyur, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tamil. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:03, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 17:08, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on District Science Centre, Tirunelveli requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.dsctirunelveli.org.in/facilities.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Admin userboxes on your userpage

[edit]

Hello, I noticed you have two userboxes on your userpage:

  • This user has been an admin for 3 months and 20 days.
  • This user is an administrator on the English Wikipedia. (verify)

These are misleading because you are not an administrator, so I am removing them. Regards, AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 05:27, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I replaced the first one with a "Wikipedian" one that I use. It is more appropriate so I suggest you use it too. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 05:29, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month 2016

[edit]

Thanks for partipating Wikipedia Asian Month last year, and I hope you enjoy it. Last year, more than 7,000 articles contribute to Wikipedia in 43 languages in Wikipedia Asian Month, making us one of the largest event on Wikipedia. We will organize this event again in upcoming November, and would like to invite you join us again.

This year, we are lowering down the standards that you only need to create 4 (Four) articles to receive a postcard (new design), and articles only need to be more than 3,000 bytes and 300 words. We are also improving our postcard sending process, e.g. making the postcards right now, and collecting the address after the event ends without waiting other languges.

Wikipedians who create the most articles on each Wikipedia will be honored as "Wikipedia Asian Ambassadors". We will send you both digital copy, and a paper copy of the Ambassador certificate.

Thank you for considering! --AddisWang (talk)
