ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Synodic month extreme durations[edit]

Hi!

Back in 2014 (!), you did a major update of the page Lunar month, in which, among other things, you mention that “the actual time between lunations may range from about 29.18 to about 29.93 days.” However, you provided no source for this information.

Countless websites have copied this information from Wikipedia without questioning it.

However, the actual extreme durations for the synodic month, according to Jean Meeus, are “between about 29.27 and 29.83 days” (More Mathematical Astronomy Morsels, Willmann-Bell, 2002, p. 23).

I have updated Lunar month accordingly, but I am curious as to where you got the information from, that it’s 29.18 to 29.93 days…
