A tag has been placed on Van Choga requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. --TheImaCow (talkcontribs) 16:46, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I created a page about one of the rising Zimbabwean Musical artists,Van Choga.Due to bad internet and me being a novice to editing wikipedia pages,The page was flagged for speedy deletion. The page was deleted and i added it back and was blocked under Spam/Advertising. I am appealing to be unblocked and also to retain the article as this is in no way advertising. Thank you

Decline reason:

The mere fact that you describe this musician as "rising" means that it is likely far too soon for an article about them. Wikipedia is for subjects that have already arrived. You would need to show with significant coverage in independent reliable sources that this person meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable musician. "Advertising" does not necessarily mean soliciting fans or buyers; any promotional activity, which includes merely telling about someone, is not permitted on Wikipedia. Since you don't describe what edits you want to make and seem intent on editing about this musician, there are no grounds to lift the block, and as such I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 20:10, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I believe the LIFETIME BAN was too harsh for a first time offender. I have no links to the said artist but assumed he meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable musician in my country.I believe the LIFETIME BAN was too harsh on me.This came after the realisation that local Zimbabwean notable people(besides Politicians) are not documented on the free encyclopaedia and I was willing to contribute. The ban is just too harsh. A simple google seach can also show that "Van Choga" is a subject that has already arrived. Rageymen (talk) 21:14, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficient for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. Yamla (talk) 11:47, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You are not under a "lifetime ban", you are blocked until you make a successful unblock request. (Blocks and bans are different here) How did you come to write about this person? It isn't up to us to find your sources, you need to provide them and demonstrate that this person meets the Wikipedia definition of a notable musician. 331dot (talk) 21:53, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I assumed it is a lifetime ban because of "no expiry set" on the expiry date field of my ban :):).Thank you for the clarification. This wikipedia entry " https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Zimdancehall#Van_Choga " is what prompted me to create a page on Van Choga. He is the current torch bearer of our Zimbabwean reggae dancehall genre called Zimdancehall. These are some of the sites i had cited in creating his page. 1.https://www.pindula.co.zw/Van_Choga 2.https://www.newzimbabwe.com/van-choga-yala-nation-split-up/ 3.https://www.newzimbabwe.com/van-choga-yala-nation-split-up/. As you only need one open request, I have removed the formatting from your past two statements; subsequent comments should be standard, unformatted comments like this one. Administrators are volunteers, who do what they can when they can, so patience is required. While you wait, you can perhaps think about how you can make your request more persuasive. 331dot (talk) 09:16, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
