Orphaned non-free media (Image:BlessedBestOfRL.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BlessedBestOfRL.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:09, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of The Sing & Dance DVD

[edit]

A tag has been placed on The Sing & Dance DVD, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. November 2007

[edit]

Let me apologize for leaving that harsh warning here yesterday. If I had fully reviewed your contributions, rather than just looking at the messages on your talk page, I would have realized my err. The page you created, V*Enna, was done in good faith, which I did not realize at the time. You are certainly a value to Wikipedia with all of the contributions that you've made in the area of contemporary Christian music, and I hope my actions haven't discouraged you. I've gone ahead and removed the warning, so hopefully you'll forgive me for reacting with such haste. Keep up the good work, and please let me know if there is anything I can help you out with! Cheers! Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 14:51, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As far as the V*Enna article goes, Royalbroil pointed out to me that they have a top 10 hit, which would seem to make them notable enough for inclusion. The original article, though, was not written with a neutral point of view, which is very important. If you'd like to try to recreate the article making sure to provide an external reference to verify the top 10 hit, it would probably qualify for inclusion. The best way to recreate it would probably be to start the article in your userspace, for example here: User:Rachael Lampa Fan/V*Enna. Once you've gotten it completed, I can show you how to move it into the article space (if you don't know already). Let me know on my talk page if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks! Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 15:27, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've been meaning to talk to you about the WP:NPOV issue. I've noticed a pattern of this problem in your edits. I hope you read the first paragraph of the NPOV tutorial if nothing else, because it helps explain why we all have biases. I'll give an example. You and I might think that Rachael Lampa is a great singer. Would you expect to find an entry in an encyclopedia like Webster saying that she is a great singer? I bet "no" is the answer. It's our Point of View, and others may not share in our point of view. You wouldn't expect to find the statement that "This artist is a great singer" on an artist that you don't like, would you?
Another thing to work on is improving your use of sources. It is expected that you should be using reliable sources when you add content. Here is a link to the the guideline: WP:RS. I know you understand Contemporary Christian music. Almost all of the other Wikipedians do not. We are having a lot of problems at WP:CCM with having articles about well-known CCM artists being deleted. The problem is that non-CCM Wikipedians expect to see several multiple reliable sources or they nominate the article for deletion. This is probably why you have so many speedy deletion on your talk page. The only way for us to ensure that these notable artists are kept is to provide the sources. I never start an article without at least two or three reliable sources. I have had only 1 article deleted ever, and it was because I didn't feel like fighting any more for the cmcentral article. Another thing: make sure that these reliable sources are not the official websites of the artist or record label, because reliable sources need to be independent of the artist. This guideline is in place because Wikipedia is regularly spammed by garage bands trying to make a name for themselves. The best reliable sources are print media like newspapers, magazine, and books. Unfortunately, CCM is rarely covered, if at all, in any of the mainstream media. The best places that I have found to look for information about CCM artists is Jesus Freak Hideout, cmcentral.com, and sometimes allmusic.com. Fortunately jesusfreakhideout.com and allmusic.com are usually recognized to be reliable sources by Wikipedians. A few example of CCM articles that I improved in the last few months: This Beautiful Republic, Brandon Heath, Sevenglory, and Grey Holiday. Note how much they are sourced. It isn't much harder to write this way!
I greatly appreciate all that you been doing to improve Wikipedia's coverage of CCM, and I hate seeing your work wasted when its content is deleted. Your contributions come up frequently on my watchlist. I hope you continue improving things in Wikipedia! Some change in your wordinge would make your contributions much more valuable. I would love to Adopt you to help steer you in a more productive direction. Most of your edits are already going in the right direction. A little help steering you could easily make a big difference. Royalbroil 22:04, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your support. If you would like you can create the V*Enna page, Royalbroil, and I can create their album pages. Just an idea. Rachael Lampa Fan (talk) 00:40, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I found that V*Enna was right at the borderline for notability standards, so I decided to pass. They apparently had a Top 10 hit according to their website, but their website is not considered a reliable source. You may choose to write an article that asserts their notability, which is why I talked with User:Ioeth sticking up for you. I said to Ioeth that you are one of the very few Wikipedians who really understands CCM. Just make sure that the article has at least 2 or 3 reliable sources quoted or I'm sure that it will be deleted or speedy deleted.
After my last post I reviewed some of your edits. I notice that you are mainly working on singles and albums for CCM artists. I want you to be aware of a page called Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Common outcomes. It's a summary and definitely not set in stone. One line in particular might be relevant to you: "Songs are not generally notable, and should be listed under album or artist as appropriate. Songs which have been verifiable Top 40 hits do, however, tend to survive AFD, although not without dissent." By Top 40 I assume they mean Top 40 hits on pop/Top 40 radio stations (and not on CCM stations). Royalbroil 03:02, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Holiday Trio (3-song single) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Arx Fortis (talk) 00:42, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Use Under Construction tag

[edit]

If you are going to be making a series of edits to an article, as you did with V*Enna, you might want to add the {{underconstruction}} tag to the top of the article. That will let others know that you are working on the article and will generally limit the edits they do to it. If you do add the tag, please remember to remove it when you are finished with your edits. Best of luck. Truthanado (talk) 01:42, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aurora (Christian band)

[edit]

You might want to check the wikilinks on Aurora (Christian band) that you recently created. In the first paragraph, Aurora seems to be mis-spelled as "Auora". In the Discography section, "Aurora" links to a disambiguation page that does not contain any links to the album (see Wikipedia:Disambiguation. The other wiki links are broken. If you plan to add them, feel free to do so. Please note the comment above in the November 2007 section by Royalbroil concerning the notability of songs and their inclusion in Wikipedia. Thanks. Speedy deletion of Aurora (Christian album)

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Aurora (Christian album) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Little context in Bigger Than Us (album)

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Bigger Than Us (album), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Bigger Than Us (album) is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Bigger Than Us (album), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. License tagging for Image:Nonstophannah2.jpg

[edit]

Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
