Minor Edits

I have noticed that you mark many, if not most of your edits as minor. Generally it seems that new users mark edits as minor that are not, as the policies and guidelines explaining minor edits are not quite explicit on the talk pages. Please read wikipedia:minor edits. To sum it up, minor edits are essentially used only to mark extremely minor changes, such as that regarding syntax or grammar, and sometimes the reversion of vandalism. As a general rule of thumb if it changes the meaning or implications of an article at all, or if it is not extremely unlikely to be objected to, it should not be marked as a minor edit. On a side note, are you satisfied with the changes I made to the Tokyopop alterations section? eh... Personally I'd rather have it cover the entire scope of the issue, including responses and reasoning. That way it strives to remain neutral while actively noting the criticism. I made a major overhaul of the background section into a storyline synopsis that should take the focus off of that section. Script

Would it be possible to extend the space inserting function to include Newton metres (Nm), Pferdestärke (PS), and litres (L/l), or does this break other stuff? Cheers! I tried this before but got lots of errors. I have learnt a bit more now so I am trying some small changes in this direction. I have modified the code to add a space for Nm and PS. You beat me to it! (I've just copied it to User:RB30DE/monobook.js/unitformatter.js, and was trying to work out how to do it.) I see the Nm one now, I can't see PS. Would you do it like this?:
txt.value = txt.value.replace(/(\d)\s?PS/gi, '$1 PS');

Congrats on getting it. You can now do whatever you want. Feel free to use 'dates.js' too. I learnt by trial and error plus web search and a few tips from people.
Your ps version was a good attempt but would make mistakes. When it encounters '7 psi', it would have become '7 PSi'. Mine avoids that error.
To get you started, here are some tips:
  • If you want to make it case sensitive, use '/g' rather than '/gi'
  • '\d' means 'any digit from zero to nine'.
  • '(\d)' means capture the digit in memory.
  • '$1' means print the first memory.
  • '\s' means a space character
  • '?' means 'the preceding character is optional'.
  • '\W' means a character that is not digital or alphabetical.

RE: Drifting

Please stop vandalising my contribution to the drifting page. What I've written is fact and is also neutral (I actually do love drifting myself but what I've contributed is fact). Drifting is actually not classed as a proper professiona motorsport and is not recognised by the FIA (the governing body for motorsports and safey). The motorsports like F1, WRC (Rally) and WTCC (Touring Car) are supported by the FIA, even Japanese Formula 3 and SuperGT have FIA safety approval, however drifting does NOT. The sport is looked down by professional race drivers and enthusiasts because it's such an amateurish event. Biased judging, over enthusiastic fanboys etc. In any case I'm sorry if I offended you. Nice username though, I do like Nissans, only 1 of them though, Fairlady Z series, except Z32.

No worries, I'm not offended. What you have added may be fact, but the point is you have to have a source for it, and you have to attribute it to someone else. You can't just write "Drifting itself is often frowned upon by professional motorsport enthusiasts as they feel many aspects of the sport are farcical such as biased judging, inexperienced participants, over-enthusiastic supporters (fanboys) and even the concept of drifting itself.". Wikipedia is not about facts/truth, it's about sources. I don't think the words "farcical", "biased", "inexperienced", & "fanboy" are neutral, but if you can ascribe those words to someone else, that's fine. Also when you are reverting, you are also adding back in David Green and some other spelling mistakes, not sure if that was your intention or not. Cheers! RB30DE 01:20, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
^ Thank you for fixing my contribution. I had no idea about the other spelling mistakes someone else left. I'll search around for professional motorsport personalities opinions on drifting. It's just a shame a TV interview isn't always recorded.

Vandal tags

Thank you for reverting vandalism on Wikipedia!

Be sure to put warning tags on the vandal's user talk page (such as {{subst:test}}, {{subst:test2}}, {{subst:test3}}, {{subst:test4}}). Add each of these tags on the vandal's talk page, in sequential order, after each instance of vandalism. Adding warnings to the talk page assists administrators in determining whether or not the user should be blocked. If the user continues to vandalize pages after you add the {{subst:test4}} tag, request administrator assistance at Request for Intervention. Again, thank you for helping to make Wikipedia better. Hey there ! I noticed you just reverted vandalism from the Nissan Skyline page again, but this time, you added the tags to the user's talk page. I just wanted to thank you for that, because it really helps everyone know what's going on with certain users who have a history of vandalism. I, as a recent changes patroller, find it very useful when I encounter such tags on a user's talk page, because when too many of them are up on a perticular user's page, it give us ammunition for requesting a block or a ban. I know it's a hassle, but in the long run, it really does help sort out the regualr vandals form the one-timers.Again, thank you for taking this comment constructively and making wikipedia a better place !!!

Hi,

Great to see someone interested in imports and the drift scene.

Just one question, where was the photo of the Cefiro taken ? Reason why I'm asking is because it's my car ! :) My brother in law found the pic and emailed the link through. I just think it's funny because not many people recognise the car.

Something is askew in the logic of those edits. I tried to help user once to no avail. And he insists on edit wars here: Locking Differential . So I gave up and just let it sit. But it's obviously still wrong info there. I'm not sure what makes someone think the majority of the torque will go to the wheel with the most grip in plain old LSDs.
