Rights re-granted
[edit]Hello Quintus Symmachus. Your account has been granted the "rollbacker" and "pending changes reviewer" user rights. These user rights allow you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes and quickly revert the edits of other users.
- Please keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin).
- The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection enabled is located at Special:StablePages. You may find the following pages useful to review:
- Wikipedia:Reviewing pending changes, the guideline on reviewing.
- Wikipedia:Pending changes, the summary of the use of pending changes.
- Wikipedia:Protection policy#Pending changes protection, the policy determining which pages can be given pending changes protection by administrators.
Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of reviewer or rollback. If you no longer want either of these user rights, contact me and I'll remove it, alternatively you can leave a request on the administrators' noticeboard. Happy editing! Hi there! I just wanted to verify that this is indeed an alternative account of yours? I've seen some LTA users try and create "legitimate alt accounts" of other users recently and in the past, so I wanted to message you and ask about it. Can you let me know using this account so I have a clear confirmation from your main account here? Thanks :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:57, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
- Oshwah, I can’t log into my parent account. Hence why I created this account- I wanted to be accountable for any edits and not raise any eyebrows. I have edited infrequently in recent history, and unfortunately chosen passwords that Were apparently too “strong”, both on my original account and here. However, I believe this account is associated with my e-mail address, so I should be able to verify that way. I only created this because I made a mistake on the password retrieval form, and as you know, only one request may be sent every twenty-four hours. And aside from that, I thought it was about time I created an alt for being out and about, much as Mpantsatwork did- in case I wasn’t able to access my primary account. Kevin (L235) can also verify who I am off-wiki, if necessary; I used to be a helper on the IRC channels and he knows me quite well. Either way, let me know what to do. I can assure you I’m not a long-term abuse account, but I know you need some additional info. (Apologies for any typos- typing on a phone). - No worries; take the time you need. I understand your thoughts, and how the password recovery process makes you wait if you mess something up. :-) I appreciate the response and the explanation. Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:14, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you. Yeah, I’ll be honest, I’m rubbish at this stuff. The need for some anonymity (at least for most) these days tends to make me use ridiculously difficult passwords. I totally understand Wikimedia’s need to secure accounts with CAPTCHA and waiting periods, but it’s certainly annoying when you’ve just been inactive and can’t remember. Nice to see you again, by the way. Symmachus Auxiliarus (talk) 00:23, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
