feedback for fire class

[edit]
  1. Great idea to work on the soil effects of fire in the Fire Ecology article. I suggest copying the entire section (from the text editor, not the visual editor) into your sandbox and editing it there.
  2. What we saw on the field trip was a quick observation. The ash was certainly holding onto a lot of water. That is consistent with the paper you found from Montana. But whether infiltration is reduced due to ash needs a good referencing. Other basic abiotic effects are already in the section (temperature, etc), but more on erosion and soil nutrients could be added.
  3. The Wildfire suppression article seems OK; I am not familiar with efforts in many other countries. Indonesia has fire but actually very little capacity to suppress fires (that is the problem!). So Indonesia could be shown where a developing country needs to build capacity to suppress damaging fires (and peat fires are hard to extinguish).
