Speedy deletion of Shannon braithwaite

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Shannon braithwaite requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. pablohablo. 16:54, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved this page from User:USERNAME/Shannon Braithwaite because I think you accidentally created it there.

Please be careful, if you are intending to recreate the deleted page Shannon braithwaite, don't. As it says above, read

and then think about whether this article needs to be in an encyclopaedia. Then think about whether an encyclopaedia needs this article. pablohablo. 21:39, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Shannon Braithewaite.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. — neuro(talk) 19:25, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Shannon Braithwaite has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please see Wikipedia is not a memorial site. NawlinWiki (talk) 15:51, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Response to Mr. Jones

[edit]

Mr. Jones -- thanks for writing and clarifying what's going on here. You indeed have multiple independent news sources, and if Qualynda were to repost the article with these sources, it would not be eligible for speedy deletion. I would, however, list it for a regular deletion discussion (WP:AFD), for the reason I've given before -- unfortunately and sadly, there is nothing about Ms. Braithwaite other than the fact she was murdered that makes her noteworthy (see WP:BIO), and we do not have articles on every murder victim in the United States or the world. Generally, see WP:BLP1E (discouraging articles about subjects who are notable only for one event). and Wikipedia is not a memorial site. You might encourage Qualynda and your other students to help with some of the articles we still need (in red) at Wikipedia:WikiProject_New_York_City#Requests_for_uncreated_articles. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 17:33, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
