Proposed deletion of List of generations, 1900-present

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of generations, 1900-present, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

These terms are inherently loosely and inconsistently defined by authors who use them, and there is no source that establishes them as a concrete and cohesive series as purported by this article. The sources given do not meet WP:RS as reliable sources, and in any event references can't be used to back up these definitions because, as I said, different references use different definitions, or else they concede that the boundaries are vague.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. —Largo Plazo (talk) 18:20, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Generations

[edit]

Hi. Now I see what's going on. There is a long-standing article already called List of generations that already covers the topic in question. You wrote a new article, then another new article, then wiped out the old one and redirected it to your new one.

Please read [[[WP:FORK]] about creating articles that duplicate existing ones. An appropriate reaction to finding the existing article would have been to merge into it whatever additional information, if any, you might have to contribute to the topic, and then requesting speedy deletion of your own articles. You could also turn them into redirections to the original article, but the chances that someone would search for articles with titles worded precisely as you worded yours is slim.

I've restored the previous version of the List of generations articles and am redirecting your two new titles to it. —Largo Plazo (talk) 01:35, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
