Welcome!

Hello, Pwhdavey, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes ~~~~; this will automatically insert your username and the date. BTW, I notice you've been working on some articles connected with South Otago. If - like me - you're an Otagoite, you might be interested in the Wikipedia:New Zealand Wikipedians' notice board and Wikipedia:WikiProject New Zealand. Hope you enjoy your time on Wikipedia, Grutness...wha? 06:07, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're right that the WP community can be a bit off-putting - there are quite a few rules, even for something as seemingly anarchic as an edit-yourself encyclopedia. Hopefully though it won't put you off. I'm also in Dunedin, BTW (in St. Clair), though I used to live in Milton, which is how come I noticed your Toko Mouth article. There are several articles on Otago wetlands you might be able to add some more info to, such as Lake Waipori and Lake Tuakitoto (I notice you've already edited the Sinclair wetlands article). NowCommons: File:Toko Mouth,estuary,2for wiki.JPG

[edit]

File:Toko Mouth,estuary,2for wiki.JPG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Toko Mouth estuary.JPG. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Toko Mouth estuary.JPG]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 16:02, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, if you are interested in possibly writing a biography about a Dunedin personality, then I invite you to have a look at these thoughts. Schwede66 19:02, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay

[edit]
Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
