Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Purplebricks, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Purplebricks, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages; user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you can indicate why the page is not blatant advertising, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: Click here to contest this speedy deletion which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy deletion candidate). Doing so will take you to your user talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also edit this page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would help make it encyclopedic. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Amortias (T)(C) 15:44, 11 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (How is it Promotional? We have put no information about how much our fees are. We have put no information about our customers reviews. We practically copied the tone and information put in by fellow Estate Agents like Knight and Frank and Tepilo and portals such Rightmove and Zoopla. If you can at least alert us to we have been promoting ourselves we will change which information has offended you. ) --Purplebricks (talk) 15:56, 11 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The page you have created is a userpage. This is a page where you can tell us about you as an individual editor rather tahn about an organisation. Orgnaisational articles need to be publihsed in main body of Wikipedia. If you wish to have this page moved to its correct location then please advise and it can then be moved to either a draft location (if you have finsihed working on it) or to the encyclopedia if you have not yet finished. Please be aware that articels on wikipedia need to meet certain criteria for inclusion details of qhich i will include on this page shortly. Amortias (T)(C) 16:05, 11 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

We see. Yes if it's possible you can move it to the right location (Organisation page) that would be great. We haven't finished editing yet but I take it i can still edit on a organisation page. We need to add a picture but we need to wait four days I believe?? Yes you will need to wait a few days before being ablee to contribute a picture. I woudl advise moving it into draft space as as soon as it hits the live site it will be subject to scrutiny as well as our deletion policies (as it was here). If you can confirm if you still want it in the live site or ina draft (which you can still edit) and I'll make the move. Amortias (T)(C) 16:18, 11 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Draft please. Dont want it Live yet. So draft please.

You can find the article here. I had to add the estate agensts as there was already a draft called Purplebricks. Amortias (T)(C) 16:36, 11 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

haha, they might be us as well. We did one but the account name was PBricks and he thought that would be the name of the article. We obviously wanted Purplebricks. So this is in draft now yep?

Yes this is a draft and you can work on it for as long as you feel nessecary before submitting it for review or publishing it. Amortias (T)(C) 16:53, 11 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Starting a wiki page for the company I work for. We initially launched it on a user page which you're not allowed to do. So one of the admin chaps kindly moved us over here. Following which you've now made me aware my username is not allowed. That's fine. I would simply like to change it to SiPB as quickly as possible. I love this website but it's darn irritating to set something up on here lol. Let me know your thoughts on changing the name...... Purplebricks (talk) 12:37, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Suggested username is already taken. Also, you're not going to be unblocked in order to write about your employer. MER-C 12:46, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Neutral tone voice. I get it. How have Apple, Microsoft, Virgin, Starbucks, Man United, Rightmove have Wikipedia pages then? All companies. What process did they use in order to get permission?

Decline reason:

They didn't. People decided to write about them because they are sufficiently notable to warrant an article. The new username is acceptable but I have serious concerns about your purpose here; do you have any intentions on Wikipedia beyond writing about your company? You should be aware that we generally do not allow employees of a company to write about their employer. Yunshui  13:08, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Because those companies were actually notable, people who didn't work for them wrote articles about them, so that they were neutral tone. Writing pages about your company almost always ends up with them being full of unencyclopedic marketing rubbish. Joseph2302 (talk) 12:53, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt every company page on Wikipedia has been written by an anonymous user. On our current draft, I fail to see where we've currently included marketing rubbish. We've included what we are and a brief history. Nothing of detail about our service. Nothing about our fees. Nothing about how we're the fastest growing company in our industry/sector. All that would be marketing rubbish, agreed?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Purplebricks (talkcontribs)
Draft:Purplebricks (estate agents) isn't very promotional, however it in now way shows why the company is notable, per WP:GNG and WP:CORP. Plus, writing about your company is strongly discouraged per WP:COI. Joseph2302 (talk) 13:12, 15 June 2015 (UTC) Fair enough. Is there any way I can delete an account Joseph?[reply]
