Do you own hetup.com? Gaz 16:14, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's mine.

Have you read the Guidelines of adding External Links? Gaz

I've read Guidelines of Adding External Links. Can you give me some tips how to add external links correctly because hetup.com contains absolutely relevant information. Thank you.

There's more to adding links than relevance. Reliability and notability of the website you link to are required. You must also avoid the appearance of self-promotion, which at the moment you do not (all your edits being link spams).--Atlan (talk) 00:32, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would first suggest adding the link in the discussion section of a single film. If the general consensus is that the link is worth adding, then wait for a different wikipedian to add your link. However, whether the link is worth adding is another matter. Your site is like the IMDb which is already an external link in most (if not all) film articles. In fact, the wording of your plot lines are similar to IMDb, except for a few words. To further this point, you copied the grammar mistakes of an anomynous entry of a plot line in IMDb (A missing full stop at the end of an identical sentence to the entry in IMDb). Why should people want to visit an imitation IMDb when the original is already established and offers everything your site does? When you can answer that, then your site could be notable enough to mention in Wikipedia. Gaz
Thank you, Gaz, for your detailed answer. It's very pleasant that you paid so much attention at my question. I got the answers of many questions I had had before.
My blog is created to get n independent opinion of the person about the movie. As a base I used IMDb base with the small changes in the text. You're completely right that my site is not unique. But the goal I want to achieve is to create a community where the movie fans can share their opinions, where they can discuss the films and read other people's reviews. I hope my site to be soon a comfortable, "home" site for the movie lovers. IMDb is more professional and my target audience will be just movie fans.
So I have a suggestion that you might like. You have section External links, but why not to create a new section, something like "Talk about (the subject)" or "Users' talk" where the wikipedians can find links to the sites where they can discuss the subjects? I think it's very interesting proposal and for your site it's also something new. Thank you Alex
That would be a question to pose to the Wikiproject Films, who are Wikipedians who specialise in improving film articles, which you may wish to join. Good luck with your site, Gaz

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. - TexMurphy 16:16, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
