- Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
- Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
- In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
- Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
- Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like
<ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>
, copy the whole thing). - In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
- If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References== {{Reflist}}

Hello friend,
I visited Sitush's talk page after long while and saw your conversation with him. As one who has been to Punjab, understands a little Punjabi and has Punjabi friends, I am willing to help you to learn to add material to Wikipedia. You must realise like Wikipedia is ten years old and has an editing culture of its own. You cannot come in and go against the cultural precepts and expect to be allowed to participate without advice and guidance. Consider it like constructing a building where the design is finalised but construction is going on. You can join the construction but you must follow the design - you cannot change the design now. Similarly Wikipedia has a culture, please join in it, learn it (which you have not yet done) and edit. We are willing to help you.
I would recommend reading all the links in my welcome note above. Then after that editing once again and start slow – take a particular article, choose a missing fact, add it along-with a reference. If someone reverts or changes it, discuss with the talk page and with civil interaction resolve the situation. After doing this about a dozen times, you will begin to understand what is acceptable and how are things to be done. AshLin (talk) 03:57, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. Your recent edit to List of Sikhs appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person or organization added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. The scientists in the other lists all had articles. NeilN talk to me 14:16, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
Plus, as per the notice, "When adding living persons to the list, the WP:BLPCAT policy requires that the person identify themselves as belonging to this religious category, and that the person's religious beliefs are relevant to their notable activities or public life. A reliable source must be provided." --NeilN talk to me 14:20, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Hope you understand that making a page for every single person will take long time. Anyhow i do not have this much time. So good luck for your 'EDITORIAL' job and keep preventing information from getting distributed just like your 'Editorial' team.
