Alba Party
[edit]Didn't realise someone else had already edited it before I had, so no, I believe Letford is the only one this week to have defected. MJ9674 (talk) 17:57, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
Correct English
[edit]Hi @Psychomike:, it's "American retired/former actor/actress" not "retired/former American actor/actress". Please see Gene Hackman, Nehemiah Persoff, Gerd Müller, Billy Connolly, Arlene Dahl, Carol Raye etc. etc. as examples of built out pages where this is the standard language used in the ledes. On an aside, I see you're a new user on here (welcome). Your first collection of edits were exclusively to Scottish political pages. I'm not sure how you then ended up on the Georgia Holt page, unless you were specifically looking at my edit history. If it transpires that you're a former user who was banned via the API noticeboard for non-constructive edits after I raised an issue, and you've returned under a sock puppet account to continue this spree, be assured you'll get caught. Hopefully we can work together and edit constructively. Thanks --Jkaharper (talk) 19:54, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for writing @Jkaharper:. I'm not a new user. You'll see I've been around on Wiki since 2012 – perhaps with a big break, but I go back a reasonable way. As far as I'm aware, apart from two edits of your work, we've not interacted before. Yes, I did end up on the page because I looked at your edits. I do this sometimes when I see unnecessary or incorrect edits such as that of the Alba page where the number of councilors has been changed and reverted a number of times already. Regarding the edit in question, I could quote quite a number of pages here where the adjective order is exactly as I stated, just as you have quoted some to me - but I'm sure you can look them up. Word order for adjectives would normally require those of condition/state (retired) to come before those of origin (American). I can't say I'm particularly bothered about it, so it can be your way if you insist on it (but have fun changing all the other entries too!😀 I'm sure if our paths do cross again on a page we will edit constructively. Like I say, no worries. Psychomike (talk) 21:23, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
Date range
[edit]The edit to dates on Alba Party was suggested by WP:AWB, but it is based on the point in MOS:DATERANGE that states
Use an en dash, or a word such as from or between, but not both: from 1881 to 1886 (not from 1881–1886); between June 1 and July 3 (not between June 1 – July 3)
". Happy editing, Ost (talk) 02:43, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for explaining. @Kashmiri had already explained this and I thanked him for the reversal of my edit. I apologise for reversing yours. It was part of the SG which I wasn't aware of. Happy editing to you too. Psychomike (talk) 10:28, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
