Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers, —Alalch E. 14:05, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, PrvInSpace. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Llanfairfechan Town Council, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted.

According to your autobiography which you created on your user page, you are a member of this body. —Alalch E. 14:06, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article, or a draft for a Wikipedia article, about yourself, at User:PrvInSpace. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator.

Your only other creation, apart from your autobiography, is an article about a local government body which you are a part of, and with regard to which you have a conflict of interest. —Alalch E. 14:09, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Alalch E.! The User article was written with the intention of informing other users who I am and any COIs I might have (and it worked didn't it). If it is excessive, then I am willing to reduce the length of it.
In regards to these being my only contributions, that is only correct in a narrow sense. While these might be my first (non-anonymous) submissions to English Wikipedia, I have contributed to the Breton, Welsh, and Norwegian Wikipedia sites in the past as well as Wiktionary.
As you will be well aware, community councils in Wales, while elected, are entirely volunteer work and there is no financial benefit, employment relationship, or otherwise. I decided to make the article so that the local council composition and election history could be better documented as it is very badly documented online. While I do recognise the COI in relation to me being an elected representative, given that this is written in a personal capacity and the inherit lack of interest in community council system I feel any bias in relation to the content of the page would be negligible if any. That being said, if you believe that the article as it stands has issues with bias, please let me know and I would be happy to resolve it. PrvInSpace (talk) 16:36, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the truth is in the middle. The notices I posted are boilerplate texts that don't allow for any nuance. I hope you still found them a satisfactory reading as they provide an introduction to important conventions. To be brief: Your user page does too have much biographical content, and resembles an article too closely. The biographical prose serves a legitimate purpose in the part where your membership in the local council is described, but there is a more conventional manner to disclose COI – please see WP:DISCLOSE. While this instance of COI could be said to be of less-than-average degree of seriousness, it doesn't really matter. On Wikipedia especially, this phrase does not have a condemnatory implication: it is just a description of a highly abstracted, objectivized, situation. You have an external relationship with the subject you are writing about. You're a member of the council and you're writing about the council. You, at least, need to be aware that this is regarded as COI. Sincerely —Alalch E. 16:59, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
