Howdy

HI Prolog. I have a request. Please can you try to expand Juuso Pykälistö -surely there's some info on his races. You'll be pleased to know I have created Template:Filmrationale and Template:Filmbiorationale to shut up the image patrollers. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 15:55, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Ahh. I've just seen his preferences! I didn't realize - I was beginning to work through the list of finns!! You can be quite assured I won't upload any of his paintings!!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 18:52, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi Prolog, I just proofed this, on the whole I'm pretty impressed! Just one question - I commented out a line in the Lancia paragraph - you might like to take a look and reinstate/delete it as appropriate. Happy editing, Cricketgirl 12:33, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

I've noticed that you've blocked the user Frontierblog from adding spam links, but it looks like Neuber hia just re-added them. I can't tell if this is just spam, so I'll leave it up to you to figure out whether these edits should be reverted. Thanks, Lisatwo 22:48, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Toivonen

Hi Prolog. Sorry I didn't quite finish up on Toivonen - last weekend was a Bank Holiday in the UK and Real LifeTM duties took over (specifically, the application of rather a lot of paint to the spare bedroom!). Looks like Cricketgirl has done a good job, but I'll go over the remaining text again and have a look at your answers to my questions. Cheers. 4u1e 08:09, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

56th Swedish Rally

I was stunned when I saw that. Seriously, how could anyone make that mistake? :D It lasted incredibly long and I'm glad I could fix it. Thanks for some templates for deleting articles, I haven't looked for them yet. Maggot -- [ talk ] 19:17, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Sound like a plan :). On pl.wiki all of the reports are named according to scheme {{Polish name of the rally}}} {{{YEAR}}}. Additionally I'm creating redirects from full names with sponsors (they're official names, after all). Rally is easy to find, and easy to link :). As you might already noticed, reports I started to create, are already named with pattern {{{YEAR}}} {{{Rally}}}. Shall I continue with this manner? Maggot -- [ talk ] 23:48, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
Hey fellow Wikipedian! Your username is listed on the WikiProject Films participants list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active on the project. If you still consider yourself an active WP:FILM editor, please add your name to the Active Members list. You may also wish to add {{User WikiProject Films}} to your userpage, if you haven't done so already. We also have several task forces that you may be interested in joining as well.

Also, elections for Project Coordinators are currently in sign-up phase. If you would be interested in running, or would like to ask questions of the candidates, please take a look. You can see more information on the positions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Coordinators. Thanks and happy editing!

Oh man Colin McRae what a loss!! After all those years of rallying it wasn't even a car. Just shows you never know doesn't it. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 18:50, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

I can't beleive how Richard Burns and McCrae are no longer living. WHen I was growing up they were some of my heroes in rallying. Its shocking isn't it. I thought I'd say something to you as I know you share my appreciation of the sport ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:18, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Waves of the Future. Deletion: Significance

Prolog,

I did put a second "hang on" sign to get more time to answer your concern re: significance. Here it is, please reconsider the deletion. I would appreciate any advice you may give in the above respect.

The site is informational (in development, new content added last night) currently under free hosting (with ad banner) but moving within the next two months to paid hosting.

Significance: All solutions we currently have for the environment are incremental (small). They obviously fail miserably. Even the Kyoto Protocol only aims to slow down the process of climate change, not stop it--shockingly enough. That is admitting failure before even starting.

For that reason, the Waves of the Future website intends to develop, make the case for, and propose large-scale and global solutions for the environment. Of course, it is very ambitious, but it is a point of view on the environment that is worthy and that may become the future of the debate. For that reason, it is a very important environmental perspective and should be inventoried on Wikipedia like other sites such as Bruce Mau's Massive Change and the ideas of Alvin Toffler and David Suzuki.

Perhaps, some of this should be part of the entry I made (please advise).

I do not think the entry is incompatible although it may need work, in which case, I would appreciate any input you can give me.

Thanks.

PS. The website address is Waves in case you do not have access to the deleted entry.

WRC Team Template

I've created a WRC team template, Template:WRC team, which I am still currently modifying and integrating into the Subaru World Rally Team article. I'm not sure how to integrate it into Project WRC as a whole though. Thanks, Tmaull 19:45, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. Yeah that was my first real attempt at infobox editing, so I'm glad it turned out alright. I'm a little confused on the BP Ford team's history in fact. I get M-Sport and BP-Ford (like SWRT and Prodrive) but I can't seem to dig up information on the name of the team back when it was first transfered to M-Sport or when Colin McRae drove for them. (Valvoline-Ford? Ford World Rally Team?) Also I think most of the info in M-Sport could be transfered to BP Ford World Rally Team. Tmaull 03:51, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey, thanks. About the SWRT image, I'd like to keep the one that is on there, because it is their corporate logo, and the SWRT is its own company (owned by Subaru obviously), but I think its important to think of it in those terms. I'm not dead set against it, but I think official logos are the most appropriate thing for an infobox. I'll put the other picture you suggested in the article's intro though.Tmaull (talk) 19:38, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Template Nowraps

Good, I'm glad to have helped. You might need to keep a careful watch on the template. What has happened is that someone has placed some "nowrap" code in either the mediawiki or one of the .css files. This is meant to stop links from wrapping. However this wouldn't be enough in these circumstances as the nowrap here includes the punctuation as well. So some enterprising soul might "help" by removing what I have just added. By the way, bad times for motorsport what with the MacLaren / Ferrari legal spat and now the death of Colin McRae. Sigh! :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 07:43, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Regarding Sigrid Lidstromer

Hello, I'd like ask a little question. Hence I wrote an unsufficiant article on Sigrid Lidstromer, unfortunately lacking sources etc, I would just like to ask if I am permitter to write an new one with a thorough list of note and sources. Do you permit recreation and how can I do it and where? Please se my talk-page. Actor categories for deletion

I would really appreciate your view on Category:Western film actors and Category:Spaghetti Western actors up for deletion. I know you don't often comment in afds but PLease see Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 September 16#Actors by genre . The only alterative would be to create lists but I'd imagine these wouldn't suffice an article either. There are many actors associated with this genre including many who only appeared in them. I'd love to hear your view on it thanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 13:07, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Removal of A7 on Pablo Pérez Companc

Um, I was wondering why you simply removed the Speedy Delete notice from Pablo Pérez Companc. If you disagree with it, you should put a {{holdon}} on it, not just remove the notice. The reason I put it there was I couldn't see anything that indicated that he was notable by WP standards. There's nothing about his career beyond the one U.S. race and his accident so there was nothing else for me to judge from. I'm perfectly open to allowing it to remain if there's more to him than what is there now, particularly more non-trivial reference sources about his career. Otherwise I may consider taking it on to AfD. Cordially, Pigman 17:17, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Um again. Sorry I didn't notice you are an admin. Would you mind pointing me toward the relevant guidelines on this? I looked at Wikipedia:Notabilty (sports)#Motorsports but there are no criteria under that section. Is it generally accepted that if a person is/has been a professional sports figure, no matter their accomplishments, they are automatically notable? Even without much in the way of sources or accomplishments? I admit I don't follow any sport much so I'm unclear on this. It just seems excessively inclusive and counter to notability guidelines and to the whole reliable and verifiable sources issues. I'm really not trying to get in a fight with you. I've just seen an attitude around that certain broad groups are, by some people's definition, automatically notable for WP purposes whether there is proper documentation or accomplishment. This ends up trumping reliable sources and this disturbs me a little.
Really, sorry to bother you with this. Again, not trying to be contentious or argumentative. Just musing on this issue which has been bothering me lately. At any rate, I'll take your opinion of the article and leave it be. Cheers, Pigman 20:53, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the tips on this. Of course I feel like an idiot for not looking immediately to WP:BIO for guidance. Duh. Best, Pigman 16:25, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

In Polish equivalent of this box, based on en.wiki one, there is a place only for rally winner - and in my opinion that is the best solution. Three positions are somewhat too much, and it's good to have the winner easily visible, without needing to search through the article, even if the field is redundant in some way. I think we could even remove two other positions from box permanently. Another quite unnecessary field, especially with modern rallies, is rally start/finish. Mostly base, start and finish are the same city, so we end up repeating the city name three times, extending the box. Besides, the best way to get rid of the whitespace is to fill it with text :D.--Maggot :: [ talk ] 19:08, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Iron maiden

Hello. I'm here to tell you that Iron maiden is a malplaced disambig page, so can you fix this since you protected the page? Admc2006 17:04, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Re reversion. The Iron maiden listing has reappeared on the malplaced disambiguation list again, since it is currently pointing to Iron maiden (disambiguation). I'm working my way through the list. Now, it seems obvious to me that the solution is to move Iron maiden (torture device) to the base name, but the requested move missed that simple solution, so we're left with move Iron maiden (disambiguation) to Iron maiden instead. Just a heads up with time to point out my error before I commit it. -- JHunterJ 20:35, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

re: Gallia Transpadana

Hello, the deletion log at Gallia Transpadana shows that you speedily deleted this redirect, "as redirecting to a non-existent article". Since Gallia Traspadana signifies that part of Gaul between the Po and the Alps, it should redirect to Gallia Cisalpina, where the phrase Gallia Transpadana is bolded, as the object of a redirect, in order to orient the Wikipedia reader. Since I don't struggle over deletions of this kind, would you serve the Wikipedia reader and rectify this? Thank you. --Wetman 17:32, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Preity Zinta FA

Hi there. The Preity Zinta article has recently achieved A-class status. Due to the wealth of support I have decided to now nominate for an FA class article which I believe and judging by the comments of others is pretty much up to. I would therefore be very grateful if you could give it a final review in your own time and leave your comments and views at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Preity Zinta. I'm wondering if you can explain to me how you found consensus on the issue of moving Martin Caballero [1] I was stunned when you moved the page despite evidence that I posted, which no one even attempted to refute or counter. There was exactly one comment in favor of the move, which described it as "accurate usage of the accent", as against my paragraph of research and statistical analysis against the move. Special stage

Hi. To give a bit of background to the page naming, originally Special Stage was a page about a part of the Sonic the Hedgehog video game. After discussion, it was agreed that other uses of the term held an equally valid claim within their own field (Video Games, Rally and Manga) but none had meaning outside of their field so the consensus was to turn Special Stage into a disambiguation page with links to the three different articles. I agree that Special stage is more 'correct' than Special Stage but feel that people searching for Sonic may well be typing in Special stage - this currently auto-redirects to Special Stage (the disambig. page).

Therefore my suggestion is for Special stage to remain as an auto-redirect to Special Stage (the disambig. page) and for Special Stage (rallying) to be moved to Special stage (rallying). Does that sound OK to you? AlexJ (talk) 15:30, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

WRC results template

I try to create the page as soon as I can, however I got huge lag this time, sorry for that.

About the width - it's funny, cause here we worry about widescreen, and on Polish project when I was trying to widen an Infobox to 300px (what's more, en version is exactly 300px(!) - TV Series one), I got the argument "What would a guy using 800x600 say?". Gues some people in Poland like to be prehistoric-compatible, oh well. Getting to the point - I think it might be a good idea to shrink the table a bit, I'll try to do something with margins to optically widen it, cause it doesn't look so good now. Maybe some centering the whole table, I dunno (and I can't imagine/check how does it look in res. above 1280, b/c I lack the monitor supporting it. Bloody hell.). Wide was nice ;) -- Maggot :: [ talk ] 13:21, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

PS: Interesting battle in Monte, and strange feeling without Bosse, don't you think?
PS2: Darn, I forgot about the time column - I think we should leave it. Of course, when no data is available, we can always omit it then (or enter N/A or sth). IMO there is no reason to strip all the arts just because of that.

Ha! Finally got it to work. The problem was irritating - padding and spacing wouldn't want to work with "wikitable" class (dunno why), but I found neat css param - max-width. Checked it, works. Now we can limit the size to maximum readable width. I've set it to 1200, since with 1280 screen res it looks nice and few spare pixels probably won't ruin it. --Maggot :: [ talk ] 12:10, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Centering the table is optional, I just think that table centered looks better (that was the point of setting param width to 100%), so of course I added the margins on purpose. Since most results pages contain just the tables, I figured it would do good to at least make them look attractive. Aligning everything to the left would IMO make whole page look more cluttered. And when you look on a screen, you focus on the center of it first, right? (I do ;)).
As for width: you might have the point, 1200 really is much. Yet I think that shrinking it too much isn't a good idea neither - so maybe some sort of compromise, like 900-950px? A little less than table @ 1280, yet with still plenty of "breathing space". And if the letters seem to be lost - we can increase the font size to about 90-92% (on pl.wiki it's set to 91% with default font a little larger). I'm sure we will find nice and smooth template suiting both purposes - usability and nice presentation).
An idea - I was thinking about maybe adding another table - championship standings after described round. Yet I'm very unsure about it, since it doesn't provide so much information, just takes plethora of space. I need someones opinion about the idea to either dump it or start creating the table, so what do you think? --Maggot :: [ talk ] 23:43, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
I am still tempted by this kind of results page, but putting complete list of contestants... Lots of work, and the external pages like eWRC do that, so it's a lil' bit too much. But if you like the idea of standings, we might include them in current template (your idea is perfectly same as mine when I thought about it).
Centering - I looked on some F1 pages and you're right. I'm not gonna fight for centering while it looks very well left-aligned and with max-width it stacks neatly having right side lined-up. Looks like fine compromise to me.
And how about some navigational templates, as seen on pl.wiki (I mean those collapsing ones with rallies across the years and maybe those with whole seasons)? I'm starting to find them pretty useful while browsing and creating new reports. Also they seem to provide more feedback than "WRC results" template while being slicker. Maybe we could throw small buttons to the infobox (along with getting rid of fields like driver2 and 3, rally start and finish (if they differ from base, could be mentioned in text/heading)) and replace this template? It wouldn't be much work and could provide some extra usability.
If you give it a go, I'll do something about it first thing in the morning. --Maggot :: [ talk ] 01:00, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes, you got me right, it's just what I want to do. Also I played a bit with infobox rally and came up with sth like that (thee are some phony fields - next and prev events - to present everything):
It's transcluded from my sandbox. It needs some indenting etc. to make it more readable, but it's pretty much done. I removed start and finish fields completely as well as driver2 and 3 fields, I also added fields with previous and next event, to add functionality of Template:WRC race report. Should work fine. There is some code redundancy right now that is a result of development (I thought of reducing the "<- Prev event" to just << or « or maybe arrows only, which seemed nice since there was one record less, but they might be a little bit too small), I'll clean it in a minute.
I'm planning on adding commons and wikinews (just in case) fields (oh! And maybe quotes? Since some drivers tend to throw some brilliant lines we could cite them sometime on wikiquotes and link to the rally) to the bottom, since more and more rallies start to have their category there. Also I think we might change the colours of WPWR because I'm not 100% sure about this light blue. --Maggot :: [ talk ] 13:01, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Adding links to sister projects is more and more common practice in pl.wiki and we're lacking template more flexible, with only chosen sister projects displaying. Template:Commons is IMHO lil' bit ugly (text shouldn't have linebreak). Besides adding them makes the page slightly longer. I won't insist on this practice though, just presenting it's pros.
I'm changing the fields as you proposed, trying to make them as flexible as possible. Three fields for the winner are much, indeed. However I wouldn't shrink it so much, two would be fine, I think, since there is no other field exposing winners team in this manner. I would like this pattern:

France Sébastien Loeb
FranceCitroën Total World Rally Team

I know that many flags aren't welcome in boxes, but since we can't use car badges on every project, flag is a nice accent.--Maggot :: [ talk ] 15:15, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

There is another, fully filled example along with complete documentaton in my sandbox. Well then, I'm replacing the template, since I've solved all problems. 'New' things are:
  • when number of stages is added, field is names Stages, when only stagekm - Length;
  • when only the startdate is added, field changes name from Dates run, to Held on;

Lapsiporno.info

I think that better topic/name for the article in the long run is internet censorship in finland, not just the lapsiporno.info. But this is also OK as long the site is on the news. --Zache (talk) 07:06, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

I'd keep the chapter about the law within the scope since it provides the basis for the article. Also, it clarifies why the censoring of the site is not legal according to the current legislation. Your call. Jilola (talk) 17:30, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

OK. I added a few sentences to the text about the law. There's also a reference to the actual legislation (in finnish). Perhaps the pertinent parts should be translated and put up somewhere. Jilola (talk) 20:40, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

I noticed you tweaked the text while I was trying to figure out how to add a page. I translated the pertinent parts of the law. Should that go up as a new article? It might be useful to non-finnish speaking readers. With proper warning that the translation is not official and a link to thye original text on Finlex. Jilola (talk) 21:31, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Gotcha. At least I learned a lot about wiki formatting. I'll leave the article as it stands. Should anyone ask I have a translation of the text of the act. Jilola (talk) 21:54, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Hmmm. With reference to your comment on not incuding translated text, I'd like your judgement on Translation_and_contextualizing. It seems a translation would have been in order to accommodate non-finnish speaking readers. Jilola (talk) 22:41, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Always provide the source, right? :) What I had in mind was a page with the original text (or a reference to it) and the translation. Seems that would fit with the guidelines. Thing is though, does the issue warrant it? seems it should blow over in a few weeks (at most) once the courts get involved and beat the current law into pulp.
I have the text and the translation (needs annotaton as to legal terminology me not having that much of a clue) Jilola (talk) 03:08, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
Hard to see what other a translation page would contain besides the original and the translation. I'll err on the side of not being bold :) Jilola (talk) 23:31, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

I wrote something in finnish about the Karin Spainks article about the Matti Nikkis list and Netherlands censorship. It is somehow intresting that there is in Netherlands some political impact but in Finland topic is just too toxic for media. --Zache (talk) 08:50, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

GNU/Linux

I would like to offer my opinion. The project to excise all references to GNU/Linux is deeply POV and wrong. It should be reverted completely and totally as quickly as possible. Virtually all references to Linux should be references to GNU/Linux. I am certainly unaware of any community consensus which would support the draconian and absurd campaign that has been conducted against the correct naming convention.--Jimbo Wales (talk) 01:29, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

There is nothing to misinterpret about Mr. Wales remarks. They are in VERY clear and direct English. If anyone is pushing anything here it is YOU and no more than a couple of other users. You talk about discussion but you do not allow discussion because you want to force your own point of view. What is your point of point? That obviously you love to misrepresent and distort the facts, the truth by calling things by their wrong name. You quickly react when I add GNU/Linux and instantly remove it but I see that you allow for months that articles like the one about Linux remain full of inaccuracies such as for example saying that the GNU userland is a component of the Linux kernel. You are NOT contributing positively to this online Encyclopedia by calling every program that is part of a GNU/distribution just by the wrong name "Linux". Is bash Linux? is the GNU C compiler that was used to make the Linux kernel also "Linux"? Is GNOME Linux? Your over simplification and distortion of the truth is what is detrimental to Wikipedia's efforts. Even Microsoft's Encarta recognizes GNU/Linux as the correct naming convention. And by the way as Jimmy Wales says there is NO such a consensus to wrongly call everything "Linux". So you must allow mention of GNU when referring to the entire system. Linux is not the entire system it is the kernel.

Umer 87 here regarding 'Depiction...'

I am writting you this in reply to your message to me blocking the edit by me on 'Depictions of Muhammad' topic.

Well. Being a Muslim, myself, I know the opinion being expressed on the topic 'Depictions of Muhammad'. There in the topic, in support of putting pictures it is told that Shiites Muslims support the making of pictures. Am I permitted to draw your attention to the point of view which the Shiite Muslims majority country, I mean Iran, adopted in response to Denmarks Newspapers publications on this topic? Had it been permitted near to them, they won't have reacted that way because, there the affairs of the state are runned very strictly.

As regard Sunni Muslims point of view, it is itself written there that they opposes it.

So, if the story is there is untrue, why put a false in the name of freedom? Is freedom to say means to say false? Indeed not. If you have a right, you must use it in some constructive manner. What would be one's opinion if some one would start beating some one with hands or start urinating in the mid of party? They too do it with their own bodiy parts. Then why don't support it?

We don't support it because it's against ethics. It's against good manners. It's destructive. It makes someone hurt.

Then why shall we publish such a post/topic or support it, which is being made on false pillars (i.e. points in support of it are nothing but lie). Is it fair? If Muslims don't have power in the administrators circle on Wikipedia, does it means to exploit their this weakness?

I would also like to point out one thing. Would someone like to have debate on Holocast? Not. Why, because it is against the norms of one's soceity. If thats not fair, this is also not fair.

In the end, I would only request you to be fair.

Pls reply and let me know your opinion.

Umer

Sorry about that edit - I think I must have pressed a wrong button by mistake. I normally proof read the changes first so I don't know how that edit happened. Punctuation is something to monitor - I notice that a lot of joining words (the, and,as,a,etc) are being missed out or used incorrectly on recent edits, which makes the wrc articles look a little unprofessional. I'm only a newbie so I don't want to cause any problems, but I thought I'd bring it up seeing as we're all working towards the same goal!--Younger2007 (talk) 11:18, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Re: Suicide

Hi Prolog. This is not a disclaimer, it appears in the same place as a disclaimer but it does not have the contents of a disclaimer. I do not believe that this banner conflicts with this requirement. Neutrality in terms of Wikipedia means: Assert facts, including facts about opinions—but do not assert the opinions themselves I have tried to make the contents of the banner fall withing this requirement. The banner is unconventional placement of information, but no more than that. I am suprised how much resistance there is to this pretty reasonable proposal. Wikipedia is ina unique position to make the "right" decisions about topics like this and I would be very disappointed to see petty bureaucracy get in the way of that. I apologies for reverting your edit without proper explaination. --Jackocleebrown (talk) 23:39, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Conflict of interest

Hi Prolog. I am not experienced in wikipedia, but this has been a great learning experience. I must have read close to 30 pages on Wikipedia policies. However, there are still things i do not understand e.g. where and how do i specify the conflict of interest on the pages that i have made. Like mentioned in wikipedia, i want to specify categorically that i am associated to the company that i am writing about i.e. Palador Pictures. But i did not understand where i should specify that. Can you please help me with that. Also, i would love people to edit the article by refering sources from different places, but i do not know or want to tell anyone to edit the page for a neutral voice. Can some check the page for facts and edit it accordingly. I realise a few mistakes i had made, and i will ensure that the errors are not repeated. Can i edit the page myself, after ondoing the last change and make it correspond this time to all guidelines of Wikipedia. Please advice. I really need some help and guidance on this. Also how can i add my email id so taht i can get all of these in mails and i can simply reply to it. That would really be easier. I thank you in advance Prolog. (talk) 28 March 2008

Thank you Prolog. I will make the necessary changes and add the corresponding references from reliable sources. I will leave a message for you after i do that and i'd be highly grateful to you if you could assign someone to clean it up, or if you could look at it yourself to see that it adheres to all wikipedia norms. However, since i've read all thenorms, i'll myself ensure that it adheres to all the norms so it won't be too much work for you or for the person who would be doing it. Thank you once again for your support. (talk) 31 March 2008 —Preceding comment was added at 08:15, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey Prolog. I have made changes into the page Palador Pictures and tried my best to adhere to the neutrality of articles on wikipedia as well as to keep conflict of interest out of it. I have also given references wherever there was a need for one. Please have someone look at it and let people edit the article and let it breathe a life of its own. Except for any little updates, i don't plan to make much changes on it (and would rather have the community take over) unless of course you want some specific changes to be made. I also wanted to edit the page of Gautam Shiknis. However, it keeps coming back to Palador Pictures. Could you help me resolve the problem. Pitkämäki

Could you please tell me why you keep undoing the insertion I made in Pitkämäki's page, concerning the javelin incident? I find your behavior completely amazing, since the fact is clearly documented. Yourself being Finish does not entail you to remove mentions of negative aspects of a prominent Finish sportman in my opinion. Wikipedia is a place where we aim at describing the facts as they are, whatever our desire of them being different.

80.200.103.253 (talk) 05:08, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Arambo

Introducing misinformation, intentional or unintentional, to a biography of a living person is not tolerated. You wrote "Amazingly, Pitkämäki never appologized to Sdiri, nor really cared for this unfortunate event.", when the International Herald Tribune article says "Pitkamaki later sought him out to apologize at his hotel..." and "Pitkamaki has explained that he did not rush to Sdiri's side on July 13 because he was in shock and because meet officials initially informed him that the injury was not serious.". Also, this is a neutral encyclopedia and not a blog, so sentences never begin with "Amazingly,...". Prolog (talk) 14:32, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi, just regarding [2] [3] and [4]. According to Wikipedia:EL#Restrictions_on_linking: "Material that violates the copyrights of others per contributors' rights and obligations should not be linked." Now I'm not trying to be difficult, you could be right about that and I have just missed the relevant policies; you reverted me saying "we provide a link to article subject's official website, no exceptions" however I can't find where it says this? Furthermore, Wikipedia:COPYRIGHT#Linking_to_copyrighted_works states that this is beyond a cosmetic link in an article: "Knowingly and intentionally directing others to a site that violates copyright has been considered a form of contributory infringement in the United States (Intellectual Reserve v. Utah Lighthouse Ministry)" ~ Ameliorate U T C @ 04:57, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

I don't think there is any written policy for my reasoning besides the MoS, just a consensus through years of (pretty much uncontested) practice. Even Encyclopedia Dramatica got its link even though they violate copyrights and bully some of our editors. I'm certain that the sentences on WP:C are not intended to discourage linking to official websites in the websites' respective articles, even if it would be 100% clear that site X violates copyrights and right there on their main page, so maybe this should be clarified through Wikipedia talk:Copyrights. Besides, it would be unencyclopedic for editors to behave as lawyers and judges and treat certain articles differently based on their opinion whether the site violates copyrights or not. It looks like somebody tried to remove the link from The Pirate Bay earlier, and the resulting discussion is here. Prolog (talk) 05:50, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Okay thanks, I was unaware that someone had removed them before. Take care, ~ Ameliorate U T C @ 06:06, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Re: Access-eGov

Hi Prolog. I've noticed that you've removed the article Access-eGov again. Since I think this article is notable and should be included in Wikipedia (as other similar EU projects already are), I've re-created it again. Please see a more detailed explanation in my talk page. If you have any objections, please indicate it on the discussion or talk pages, or modify the text directly - e.g. by removal of the text portions that are not appropriate. But please do not remove the article as whole, if possible (note also the pages of other EU projects at Category:FP5_Projects, Category:FP6_Projects, and Category:FP7_Projects). --Kf21 (talk) 16:13, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

A user editing the article doesn't quite understand what makes something a reliable source. They're calling multiple sources unreliable because they don't match what the bands label page or myspaace page say. They won't listen to me, so I think they might listen to an admin. 1994:

Have just now seen your message: ( which will be respected !)

The policies of Wikipedia are archaic - in 1994 the web was thought to be one thing - but actually came to be another - that is the world that we live in .. it is called "Evolution"

If Wikipedia does not evolve ... it will be easily surpassed

As an information expanding reference - if that was "really" all that it was ... without hidden agendas .. then I would have no problem with your actions ...

As a user edited resource - it is failing

it is failing to expand ..

and it is failing to provide further resources for users ..

this is well noted in the Auto Racing Category

be it as it may - it seems you have ALL Power over this ...

But I do have problems with your actions - and your almighty power and your historic choices of what should be listed in the Auto Racing Category and what should be seen here etc etc ... by others —Preceding unsigned comment added by RDIWiki (talkcontribs) 17:11, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Looking at this editors contribution history, I'm fairly sure everything he/she is writing is bogus. Nuisance editting by adding complete fiction to a bunch of articles. Rallying

Hey we should keep in touch more! Just been browsing the rallying articles and they have come on leaps and bounds since I last looked. I've cropped an image for Jari-Matti Latvala too. Great to see an article I started ages ago, Rauno Aaltonen is now looking quite good and two images too! I wish rallying was as publicised as Formula One, it doesn't seme to get as much coverage, only highlights or shown on some cable sports channel that I never known when its on. How are you? You don't edit films these days do you? How is WP:Finland? I;ve recently created some stub categories to split Category:Finland geography stubs. So far I;ve only applied Category:Lapland geography stubs. Could you help? Dr. Blofeld (talk) 21:27, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Hey. Good to hear from you, and good to finally see a lead image on Latvala. I've been concentrating on rallying for a long time now, since there aren't currently many editors working in this area. Articles about obscure Italian films still need work too, of course, but it's much harder to find sources for those. Unfortunately I don't have any motivation to do stub sorting (never had actually), but maybe you'll get help from Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Finland? Prolog (talk) 03:19, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Death threat??

I don't have any idea how you arrived at the conclusion that this is a death threat. Barry Clark killed another racer in the Catalunya rally, according to an article here on Wikipedia, and I felt Clark's page deserved a reference to that event. I see that you're Finnish, so I assume English isn't your first language, which must explain your confusion. If you feel the changes I made in the article are inappropriate, make changes to the article. It's not something I care much about and I won't be offended. Please be more careful in the future when dispensing what appears to be a threat to a regular, if not prolific, contributor. Dziban303 (talk) 23:31, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

I thought it was clear that I was not referring to the content you added, but to your edit summary; "you killed my father. prepare to die." Stating that the subject of a biography of a living person should prepare to die is not a good idea. There are users who don't make the distinction between a serious threat and a joke, and report edits like that straight to a law enforcement agency. Prolog (talk) 01:08, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

List of World Rally Champions

It doesn't matter if there are no country columns in motorsport articles there are in featured lists and wothput one it would not make it. With the cars I'm just going with what was already in place, the reason why I linked to sections was because the links were getting redirected, which is a bit annoying, if you could fi the cars that would be a big help, and as for the names I just used what was already there. You said I could not put "unreferenced controversial biographical content" on that cowards page. I updated his page with a reference example to what many think of Ruutu the coward. Hey. I noticed, very nice images. I did a slight recategorization but otherwise everything seems to be in order. I personally use the basic upload form and just copy-paste all the information from a previous upload to the summary box (including licensing and categories), changing the few details (driver, car) if necessary. I was about to upload a few of your images, but I noticed that the ones on Flickr are of lower resolution than the one you uploaded to Commons. If you have higher resolution versions, uploading those would be a better idea. Prolog (talk) 04:50, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
