Speedy deletion nomination of Tim G. Meloche

[edit]

Hello Professor Gravity,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Tim G. Meloche for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Trivialist (talk) 19:31, 23 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Professor Gravity. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Unified Principles of Physics and Nature, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Trivialist (talk) 19:32, 23 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Tim G. Meloche requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. You really need to slow down and take your time, pay attention to guidelines

[edit]

Hello, your attempts to publish on Meloche are causing rather a mess, as just a minute ago you had no fewer than 3 competing drafts on Meloche, as well as a live published version you just went ahead and pushed through.

  • Do not create multiple drafts about one topic, it's extremely confusing for reviewers. Please pick one draft and make all your changes on that one page, and submit only that page.
  • It's not productive to try to push through a Declined draft without bothering to include it; the entire point of our Declining a draft is to say "hey buddy, this is not ready for prime-time and would be speedily deleted if published". So that's why the version you pushed live was deleted.
  • You are not paying attention to the guideline WP:Notability. We do not need footnotes to his own books. Anyone can write a book, we don't care. What we do care about is how much attention other experts pay to his work. That's what Notability is, and until you include such in your article, drafts will be declined and live attempts deleted. You really want to read WP:Notability (people) before proceeding.

Please desist from barraging the poor reviewers with multiple copies of an unready draft, take a step back, and view your drafts through the mandatory guidelines, and this will all be way easier. MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:08, 24 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Professor Gravity. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Unified Principles of Physics and Nature, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

You have a few more days to fix it, but it looks like you are just using our website to host your data. Wikipedia is not a free web host or directory of information. It is a private not-for-profit, volunteer-edited encyclopedia. Bearian (talk) 21:32, 24 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not for writing about yourself

[edit]

On Draft talk:Timothy Gerald Meloche (3) you wrote: "I am having difficulties with getting my biography page (Tim G. Meloche) in wikipedia ... what am I doing wrong?"

I am afraid that what you are doing wrong is trying to post it at all. First, you should understand that Wikipedia is not a place like LinkedIn or Facebook for people to write about themselves. That is strongly discouraged, for reasons explained at Wikipedia:Autobiography.

Next, as an encyclopedia, Wikipedia is quite selective about article subjects. There is an inclusion criterion called Wikipedia:Notability, which looks for references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones like publishers, and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people not connected with the subject thought it significant enough to write substantial comment about? See also WP:Notability (summary).

There are supplementary guidelines such as WP:AUTHOR. I regret to have to say that, on the evidence of your drafts so far, you are not likely to be able to establish notability in Wikipedia's sense. Just having published books is not enough, particularly as it seems they are self-published (FriesenPress).

Wikipedia user pages are not like those at social-networking sites. Their use is explained at WP:NOTWEBHOST:

"Wikipedians have their own user pages, but they should be used primarily to present information relevant to working on the encyclopedia. Limited biographical information is allowed, but user pages should not function as personal webpages or be repositories for large amounts of material that is irrelevant to collaborating on Wikipedia. If you are looking to make a personal webpage or blog or to post your résumé, please make use of one of the many free providers on the Internet or any hosting included with your Internet account."

I am sorry, but Wikipedia is not for what you want to do. JohnCD (talk) 17:56, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
