Edits on Malappuram

[edit]

Mr. Prof tpms, Your recent edits on Malappuram article was way more faulty than before. FYI, there are separate City article and District articles in Wikipedia for a reason. One cannot simply merge them both or move city specific contents to general district articles for obvious reason. Kindly refrain from doing such edits based on whims and fancies. For instance, ISO certification is not a pan district matter, in fact it has been awarded to the administration of the city, i.e, Malappuram Municipality(LSG). Similarly other topics as well falls specifically to Malappuram city and not the district. If you have any doubt how a particular city article should look like, kindly go through pages of other cities like Calicut, Kannur, Kollam, Thrissur etc to get a better idea.

As for the subtopic called Subaruban areas which you blanked, it was initially added by you and the topic name was later changed to bring relevance, now that you find it to be irrelevant, kindly stop adding similar content of places in other articles like you have done before.

On a similar note, there is an edit of yours adding 'Chaliyar River protection Day' in Malappuram District as well as some other dedicated article for district like administration, which am afraid doesn't qualify to be there on significance index. I haven't made any changes on that though. Malappuram article was a Stub once. It took a lots of efforts by many to get what its today which is a good article status. Hence, Please refrain yourself from section blanking out of blue on which has taken months of refinement to appear the way here in wikipedia. I hope I have made it clear and this make sense to you. --Truebrother (talk) 22:21, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Truebrother, Thank you for your kind letter. I understand the concerns raised. My only intention was to shorten the lengthy material. Chaliyar river flows partly in Kozhikode district and partly in Malappuram district and the agitation became a model not only for the entire state but even for people from outside the state. That is why I pushed it to prominence. I am happy to see that you haven't made any change to it.

You and me are doing the same work: improving Wikipedia. So whatever concerns raised will be studied and made use of to restrain unwanted edits in future. With regards, Prof TPMS (talk) 00:29, 1 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

When compared to typical city articles in Wikipedia, Malappuram as well as many articles on other Kerala cities are having way too less content to begin with. And there is a definite pattern of adding contents in the form of topics and subtopics that are of universal for city articles. We may not be replicating foreign cities to ditto but are following identical pattern for such articles in India.

Regarding your edit on Chaliyar Protest, it very well falls in protest categories. And there is nothing wrong in it being mentioned in other articles, however the hierarchical structure of an article has to be maintained. Any article opens with an Infobox unless its an absoulute stub or if the settlement type is unavailable to the editor followed by History, Etymology and so on. In other words, we must not be putting a protest photograph in the beginning of an article. It should be under its relevant subtopic. Most of the time its hard to have such subtopics on main city or district articles unless protest are a day to day affair in the particular city making it a relevant topic. Hence, its advisable such contents are being posted in dedicated articles. Anyhow thank you for understanding.--Truebrother (talk) 17:07, 1 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited St.Joseph's Church, Aloor, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Thazhekad. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

content in the culture and transportation subheads in the page Tuvvur

[edit]

Dear Prof. Sorry to see that the content you added in the culture session in the page Tuvvur is a copy paste from this link: http://theinfolist.com/php/SummaryGet.php?FindGo=ponnani

You know that this plagiarism!!!

The content in the session transportation is also repeated in at least 10 pages (may be created by you!)

I don't understand why a senior editor like you doing such copy pastes?

Information icon Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to Kottayam. I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this: |image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]], instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do: |image=SomeImage.jpg. There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recetly added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!! Yes, I know that. It was done absent mindedly. Regards, --Prof TPMS (talk) 08:45, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Trikaripur

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 20:15, 11 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I will do like that. Prof TPMS (talk) 00:30, 12 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Balablitz. Your recent edit to the page Mysore–Chamarajanagar branch line appears to have added incorrect information, so I have removed it for now. If you believe the information was correct, please cite a reliable source or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Stations should be wikified with appropriate railway station pages and not with related geo pages. βα£α(ᶀᶅᶖᵵᵶ) 11:33, 14 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Rio Olympics Edit-a-thon

[edit]

Dear Friends & Wikipedians, Celebrate the world's biggest sporting festival on Wikipedia. The Rio Olympics Edit-a-thon aims to pay tribute to Indian athletes and sportsperson who represent India at Olympics. Please find more details here. The Athlete who represent their country at Olympics, often fail to attain their due recognition. They bring glory to the nation. Let's write articles on them, as a mark of tribute.

For every 20 articles created collectively, a tree will be planted. Similarly, when an editor completes 20 articles, a book will be awarded to him/her. Check the main page for more details. A thankyou note

[edit]

Hi proftpms thanks for your message. In fact i have my own userid jibinmathews but i have seldom used it because well , i anonymously revamped many pages since the last years without thinking about signing in and then didnot know how to assign it to my id - including kerala pages , kalaripayattu , onam , migrant labour , tourism pages, some institution pages. wikipedia is supposed to accept in good faith. Do you know if we can consolidate all the articles which i created/edited till now and assign to my userid. It might increase ownership i believe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.188.6.21 (talk) 11:33, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edits in the main article Neyyattinkara

[edit]

Finally you totally destroyed the main article Neyyattinkara and divided it into four irrelevant articles viz.Transportation in Neyyattinkara, Education in Neyyattinkara, History and Culture of Neyyattinkara and Administration of Neyyattinkara . You just copied my works from the main article Neyyattinkara and pasted the same in four different articles of your choice by giving them new titles; just like old vine in new bottle. Why you destroyed the main article? I spent so much time to build that one viz. Neyyattinkara.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Hosannagardens (talkcontribs) 06:54, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
