Ways to improve The Mayor of Zalamea

Hi, I'm Kaitymh. Prisencolinensinainciusol, thanks for creating The Mayor of Zalamea!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Add some references to the page so that editors and readers can verify the information. Here's some info on references: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Citing_sources

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Kaitymh (talk) 20:32, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

Wiki's Manual of Style

Might be useful. You don't have to read all of it but there are some minor formatting errors that I'm seeing here and there, so it might help to skim some sections. TheStickMan[✆Talk] 04:23, 13 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Wayzata, Minnesota, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Lakota (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Removal of properly sourced content

Hi, for properly sourced content, no matter how poorly written it is, it must not be deleted without first reaching consensus. You may have genuine reasons to delete it (e.g. wrong info, sources misrepresentation), but you are still required to discuss and reach consensus first. Imagine every user is allowed to freely delete some sourced content without reaching consensus - Wikipedia will be gone as it is easier to delete than to write. You are welcome to rewrite and improve sections that are not good enough, but deleting content, especially a lot of it, must reach consensus first as per Wikipedia policy. Thanks BigCat82 (talk) 08:05, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

Okay I'll be a little more diplomatic going forth.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 22:48, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

NO. The copyright bug at the bottom of the page should have been your first clue. Do not move or rename college basketball articles

You're new here. Great! I hope your editing career is a long and good one. However, please leave all college basketball articles alone, at least as far as their names are concerned. It has been discussed ad nauseum how the standard naming conventions will be for when men's and women's programs have different nicknames (a la Chattanooga, Old Dominion, Austin Peay State, etc.). The gender identifier is to be removed. Jrcla2 (talk) 19:36, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

A few things.

It's me again. Just a few things I feel like I need to mention:

 • Edit summaries. Please use them more.
 • Linking to non-Wiki URLs only needs one pair of square brackets, not two. I've fixed that.
 • Template:Cite web <-- Please use this for citing URLs. You should want to avoid using bare URLs as much as possible. I have NOT fixed those and I hope you will.

That's all. Thanks, TheStickMan[✆Talk] 15:57, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

So if I'm going to make a number of miscellaneous changes to an article, should I just make several separate edits instead so more descriptions can be added?--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 16:18, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
One/several big edit(s) is fine, just do your best to at least describe what you're doing. TheStickMan[✆Talk] 16:35, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
Another thing: Grammar errors. Stop making so many of them. Going off of all the edits I've seen you make and the various bot messages on this talk page, you don't seem like who proofreads/checks for errors/makes use of the "Show preview" button. The enthusiasm for editing is nice but it's not helpful at all when you just edit stuff and click on the "Save page" button without a second thought. I'm sure that if you were to actually look over what you just made, you catch the mistakes yourself, because this is some basic stuff you're missing.
No one is perfect but sometimes you don't seem to be trying. TheStickMan[✆Talk] 19:20, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
Oddly enough I actually do use the show preview feature, so I suppose my grammar is just bad enough that I don't notice the mistakes I make when I double check my edits. I'm just hope that I'll correct my mistakes on subsequent edits or that other editors catch my mistakes. That being said I'll try harder to be more conscientious about my writing. Also, you should take a look at the post you just made yourself... --Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 19:38, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
Well, like I said, no one is perfect. TheStickMan[✆Talk] 19:40, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

Information icon Hello. Your recent edit to Wayzata High School appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person or organization added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. John from Idegon (talk) 15:26, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for responding. I'm issuing an inquiry at WikiProject Ice Hockey to confirm if Mike Muller is a notable individual per WP:NHOCKEY, which I believe he is.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 19:42, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
Don't know all that much about hockey, but that article was not there when you added him to the school's article. As far as the bio article goes, the general rule for athletes is that they either had to be all-American in college or actually played at the highest level in the pros. In the case of hockey, that would be the NHL. Note that merely being signed by a NHL team is not enough. He would have actually had to have been on the ice during a regular or post-season game. John from Idegon (talk) 22:48, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Nomination of Mike Muller for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Mike Muller is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mike Muller until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. John from Idegon (talk) 13:12, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Jim Gruenwald

Hi Prisencolinensinainciusol.

I created Jim Gruenwald article and have questions to ask. What are your thoughts about the article after you reviewed it again? I noticed that you placed a citation tag in one of the sections. Thank you. Raymarcbadz (talk) 08:50, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Raymarcbadz. So just taking a look at it, I can see unlike the vast majority of new pages with substantial content, you've adequately provided inline citations, which is a really good thing. The you appear to have dealt with the citation problem, hopefully with a credible source. Otherwise the rest of the article looks excellent, it's easy to read and very well organized. --'Prisencolinensinainciusol 19:24, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

A few more things

 1. READ YOUR SOURCES. I don't know if it's been all you or if some wrongly-sourced links were there already, but since you've begun editing I've found plenty of sources that do not support what is being said at all. A few of the sources don't even mention anything related to the content you added a ref to. This, obviously, is a problem. Please watch out for stuff like that.
 2. Your sig. It needs to have a link to your user page and your talk page. It doesn't right now, which is a violation of Wiki sig policy. Fix that please.

TheStickMan[✆Talk] 15:42, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

1) I'm going to dispute some of your claims that the sources don't back up my claims, more to come. 2)About my sig, I noticed it and it's been fixed.--'Prisencolinensinainciusol 18:47, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
Your sig only links to the actual article "Prisencolinensinainciusol", it needs to link to your user page AND your talk page. TheStickMan[✆Talk] 18:57, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

Recreating creation protected articles

You must know you did this. You have the article with a lowercase "l" instead of a capitalized one. This is because Madison Lintz, written correctly, is creation protected. This isn't something you should just ignore. Take it to WP:UNPROTECT. In the meantime, I'm removing the link. Corvoe (speak to me) 20:46, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

I'm getting this taken care of right now, thanks for letting me know.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 20:49, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
I don't see that you have created anything that didn't have exactly the same problems the earlier version did. What do you think you've repaired?—Kww(talk) 22:36, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
I rewrote the biography, which had initially been plagiarized from IMDB. I also added a number of reliable sources and added inline citations.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 22:38, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
If the article deletion isn't going to get reverted, could I get the wikitext?--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 23:45, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
Once you demonstrate the existence of a few reliable sources on Madison Lintz that cannot be traced to the Lintz family, I'll restore the text to a userpage.—Kww(talk) 14:51, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
[1][2][3][4][5]. Add on top of that credited roles in several feature films and television episodes.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 03:12, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

Two celebrity fluff interviews in reliable sources don't add up to much. Imdb, wizardworld, and spoilertv wouldn't pass WP:RS. When there's some meat, it will be reasonable to make an article.—Kww(talk) 01:03, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Abu Omar al-Shishani Photo

Hi there, the photo you have uploaded of Abu Omar al-Shishani is actually Muslim al-Shishani, a Chechen who leads a Jihadist group called Junud al-Sham fighting in Syria's Latakia Governorate. More info on him and the video you have taken his photo from is available here [6] Gazkthul (talk) 06:57, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

I see. Thanks for noticing, it was one of the first images that came up on Google's image search, which I should've remembered isn't the most reliable.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 07:00, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
Not a problem! al-Shishani is just Arabic for "The Chechen", so there are lots of Shishani's running around in Iraq and Syria at the moment. Gazkthul (talk) 07:17, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

Before more careful, per WP:Citation overkill and WP:CLAIM

Hello, Prisencolinensinainciusol. In the future, be careful to check that a matter is sourced before tagging it for sourcing. Like WP:Citation overkill makes clear, a reference may be at the end of a paragraph and support that entire paragraph. So regarding this edit you made, I engaged in a bit of WP:Citation overkill just so that the line is not again thought to be unsourced.

Also, per WP:CLAIM, be careful not to use "claims" unless absolutely needed, such as in the case of a murder trial. So regarding this and this edit you made, I partially reverted you on that. Flyer22 (talk) 07:51, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi, about the Bieber edit, I just though the phrasing overstated how much he was influenced by the artists listed. Otherwise everything else I'll have to watch out for in the future. Anyhow thanks for telling me about all this.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 03:52, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

You sure get a ton of these. Maybe you should start checking the things you link? It's not hard. TheStickMan[✆Talk] 17:02, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, I get a little link happy some times. Do people normally get these messages or do they just turn them off? I don't think I've ever disamb messages on someone else's talk page.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 18:07, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
People get them (I got one recently) and usually don't bother turning them off, since it's important to avoid linking to disambiguation pages and it doesn't hurt to get reminded when you accidentally do link to one. Nothing is really wrong with linking (Usually), so just be sure to always double check the stuff you link. TheStickMan[✆Talk] 18:59, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
Also, when disambiguating, be sure to pipe the links so you don't end up with stuff that reads "played the role of Mary Camden in the television drama 7th Heaven (TV series)" (As you did in the Fairview High School (Boulder, Colorado) article; get rid of "(TV series)" by using piped links). While I appreciate all efforts to improve the encyclopedia, I don't think you did anyone any favors in attempting to rescue this article. The text you've left describes a person who was born in 1640, died in 1702, and yet served in the VA House of Burgesses in 1619. Not likely, I'd say. I've take the matter to WP:AFD. Sorry, it was my mistake. I looked up "Mesfin Mengistu" on google and it seemed to yield no relevant results. Otherwise the website of the Ethiopian Democratic Party lists him as their party secretary. The tag is being removed.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 07:48, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Zhongshangirlsschool1.gif

Thanks for uploading File:Zhongshangirlsschool1.gif. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the file description page and add the text below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
 2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 21:46, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

Hey - could you please take a break in creating disambiguation links for Mario, and wait for there to be a discussion on the topic? Thanks. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 00:00, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
I'm preempting a title change in the event that it does happen, but sure I'll stop for now.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 00:09, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks :) Not a big deal, but no use in creating redirecting links if the page does end up not being moved. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 00:22, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Luigi, without good reason. They need to have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. You cannot just move a page without a discussion. JDDJS (talk) 02:46, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

On that note, "disambiguating links" does not mean going to every article and changing Luigi to the redirect Luigi (character). Not only is the link you're providing broken in many cases, you're creating more work for yourself in preparation for something that might not even be approved via consensus. I recommend you stop modifying every Luigi link in existence until there's actually a need to do so. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 03:37, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Note I've reverted your changes from Mario and Luigi to Mario (character) and Luigi (character) as per above. Satellizer (´ ・ ω ・ `) 12:33, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the partial reverts though. I realize that not all of your edits were changing the links, and I was going to fix some of them myself, but I guess you beat me to it :) Satellizer (´ ・ ω ・ `) 22:40, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
No problem, you're just watching out for the wiki and I can't blame you for it.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 00:44, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Hello, Prisencolinensinainciusol. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Senior seminar, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

 1. edit the page
 2. remove the text that looks like this:
 3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Salimfadhley (talk) 21:32, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

User:Salimfadhley Let me ask you, why do you think it should be deleted?--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 21:45, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
As stated in the deletion proposal, this new article is little more than a definition of a term. Usually we put definition articles in Wictionary or dictionary-like Wikis, not Wikipedia which is intended to be an encyclopaedia. --Salimfadhley (talk) 21:55, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant

With reference to your revert today, could you look at [7] on the ISIS Talk page, please? The UN has not designated ISIS as a terrorist group, it has only referred to them as being terrorists in various utterances. There is a big distinction between those two things, and it was discussed at great length on the Talk page and in particular in an important discussion in another forum (for which there is another link in the link I have provided). Your edit will definitely be reverted, and I wanted you to know the reason why in advance. --P123ct1 (talk) 20:53, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

I was making a quick copy editing edit by sweeping the examples together. But yeah thanks for letting me know.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 21:05, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

Hello, Prisencolinensinainciusol. 你好嗎? A courteous question on your reverts of my edits today. Are you aware that this article has a 1RR restriction per 24 hours? Perhaps you can revert your own revert [8]? Worldedixor (talk) 04:11, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Syrian civil war sanctions notice

As a result of a community decision, broad editing restrictions apply to all pages broadly related to the Syrian Civil War. These sanctions are described at Talk:Syrian Civil War/General sanctions and a brief summary is included below:

Sanctions may only be imposed after the user is notified sanctions are in effect. This message is to so inform you. This message does not necessarily mean that your current editing has been deemed a problem; this is a template message crafted to make it easier to notify any user who has edited the topic of the existence of these sanctions.

This notice is effective only if logged at Talk:Syrian civil war/General sanctions#Log of notifications.

CIF entries

Hey I want to thank you for picking up the ball (I dropped) and doing the CIF sections. I got too involved in creating the details of San Diego Section and ran out of gas to do it for all the other sections. I'm surprised I didn't even tackle my old home section, Central Coast, probably because I don't understand the new league structure. Its good to see another person with the knowledge and interest to keep up the work.

While I have your attention, I saw you changed the name of Pasadena High School. if you look at the disambig page for Muir High School, there really is only the one--the second entry is a former name. Specifying the location seems unnecessarily complicated. I guess I didn't have the balls to rename the article at least down to John Muir High School but I'll suggest it is appropriate. Trackinfo (talk) 18:53, 31 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi, no problem, I just enjoy making these kinds of entries. Anyhow about John Muir High School, it's clear that the Scottish high school was known as THOMAS Muir so I guess I'll go ahead and make the move. There's not a WP policy for this, but it seems unnecessary to list the city in the title disambiguation if its the same as the high school name, that's my two cents at least.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 19:20, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
You did right. I should have done so myself but it seemed a little presumptuous alone. Your opinion backs me up. You've bitten off a lot of work, have at it. So many sections, leagues and schools. Trackinfo (talk) 19:35, 31 August 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of CIF Northern Section

The article CIF Northern Section has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Lacks notability, fails WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Section 4 (NYSPHSAA) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

So I wasn't quick enough to respond to this. Section 4 (NYSPHSAA is a branch of an important interscholastic athletics organization in the state of New York. The page won't be anything more than a list-class article, but it contains valid information. Also, I don't think a unanimous speedy deletion was the right idea, but that's beyond the point.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 03:59, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
After some bouncing around, I've talked to the admin who speedied this one. In a less than friendly conversation, he is fine with re-creating the article. BUT make sure you source it well, early on. I played with Section 1 and attracted the stench of another editor who wants to bother me. Frankly, I've been refuting his bad habits since I discovered them. So he tried to speedy Section 1 out of spite. The good that came out of that is a much better sourced and actually more accurate article. Someone added a bunch of schools that apparently are not part of Section 1. Use that as a template for the other sections. We both know there is a lot of source material on this kind of stuff. Each section has its own central site. MaxPreps has actual competition records. I found New York harder to do simply because I don't know the geography as well (and I have an exceptional knowledge of geography--I've won contests). Contrast that to having personally visited about 1,000 schools in my own state, which is very helpful to understand the local situations and personalities. Its out of your territory too, but obviously nobody on the scene is getting this information posted. The nice thing about wikipedia is, now that the information is started, somebody else usually follows up and makes the article better. You understand that. Let's just make sure whatever article is left for the wolves has enough sourcing to substantiate it. Or we will have some jerk try to delete or speedy it. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Section 1 (NYSPHSAA) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Valley Christian High School (Cerritos, California):

I have not had any luck finding a replacement ref (both current ones are dead links) for the SAT claims. Have you tried? I don't doubt that it is (or at least was at some point) correct but per the school guidelines this type of comparison to other schools really needs an external source (not just the school website). Meters (talk) 04:42, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

The article claim may date back to 2007 per this page https://www.vcschools.org/uploaded/school/About_VCS/VCS_Excels_march_8.pdf Meters (talk) 04:51, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

Archives

Not a required thing, but you might wanna consider archiving your talk page, since it's generally recommended to archive once the page grows larger than 75KB, and yours is way over two times that amount. TheStickMan[✆Talk] 09:17, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

And which past editor are you?

Want to disclose your previous Wikipedia account now? Or do you want to wait for it to be disclosed, by someone else? Flyer22 (talk) 12:10, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

I see that I interacted with you above, at #Before more careful, per WP:Citation overkill and WP:CLAIM. Flyer22 (talk) 12:40, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

I don't understand what you're trying to accuse me of. I guess for disclosure purposes in about 2007 I used a account called user:kip122 and made a few edits but I haven't used it ever since.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 19:08, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
After seeing you edit a few sexual topics concerning children and underage teenagers today, including this, which I corrected, I'm trying to make sure that you are not one of the past problematic editors I've dealt with before on such topics. Looking at your first edit to Wikipedia as User:Prisencolinensinainciusol, you created your user page. Instantly creating a user page is something that the vast majority of true WP:Newbies don't do. The vast majority of them also don't sign their username for their first post, but you did with this edit. That, and other early edits you made as User:Prisencolinensinainciusol, is how I knew that you've edited Wikipedia before. Looking through your contributions, I find it peculiar that you have suddenly become interested in sexual topics concerning children and underage teenagers. So I decided to ask you about your account. Flyer22 (talk) 19:24, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
