I can help with the article on A Bulla

[edit]
The links given are still available, but there are so many more, as there are many more books he has published since his first, I've counted about 10 google search pages of sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.29.164.159 (talk) 22:07, 23 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

He is a very elusive character, but there are a series of secondary sources about him that help us understand his work. I can see that you have already collected an extensive series of links. I did do a study on him and despite all my efforts, I could not even get in touch with him. I managed to contact him through his college but he declined to be interviewed. I think he sees himself as far too serious a man of letters to engage with publicity on the media, therefore, we will not have his own points of views on his work, but there are plenty of scholars who have explored his work. What I know for sure is that he can read 8 ancient languages, that he refused to defend his PhD because it was on a field which he regarded as an academic trend imposed on him, while he had wished to write a PhD on Joyce or something (I'm not sure about the last detail). This is mainly academic vox populi though. His private life is particularly mysterious, but I suppose the article should focus on his literary achievements? Other online encyclopedias, including the Britannica, if I'm not mistaken, already have articles on him, so it shouldn't be hard to put one together. He seems to be a more popular writer than I thought, Author's den scores the popularity of its articles, and despite it being a poetry article, therefore a far less popular filed than many others, it scores really highly in terms of internet hits. Let me know if you want me to collaborate. I do have a spare copy of one of his books, if you want me to send it to you, but they are also available in shops and online, even pirate copies. Even there, no picture of him on the back page.

You may wish to contact his school's reception explaining you wish to have information for an article on him in an encyclopedia, therefore a factual text, because i think he refused to be interviewed by me because I was seeking a citical commentary on his work. Thanks for the comments. That article has actually been on my back burner for awhile. I would definitely be glad of your help on some of the more technical aspects of writing about him. I'll let you know when I start a draft. PrincessofLlyr royal court 18:06, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the delay in my reply, I have lots of other things to do in life, but I'd be pleased. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Drmariorossi (talkcontribs) 18:24, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The following discussion is about the current construction of the books in The Heir Trilogy.

References

[edit]

The current references and awards list is copied from The Heir Trilogy for the convenience of the knowledge and links. We can rework them later so they aren't exactly the same in the actual article. Also, I've already checked out Cinda Williams Chima's website, but there isn't very much useful information that I could find. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 14:06, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Hmmm, yes, you're right. I couldn't find much on a Google Search either. Maybe we shouldn't recreate the page... Airplaneman talk 21:28, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Depends on how you look at it. Maybe I should check notability guidelines. Obviously the books have been well received by the literary community, so that kind of makes them notable. Also, you are allowed to write a plot synopsis based off the book. This is annoying! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:25, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As another thought, per WP:NNC we could just expand The Heir Trilogy to include a synopsis of each of the books, character list, critical reception, etc. What do you think about that? PrincessofLlyr (talk) 16:03, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, yes, great idea! We can always create their articles later if the summaries get too long. Airplaneman talk 01:49, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Great! I currently have Wizard Heir on loan, so I'll start taking notes on that for a synopsis and try to get Warrior Heir later. I haven't actually read Dragon Heir yet, but should be able to do that within the next couple of weeks. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 12:21, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK. :) Airplaneman talk 20:46, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
