Your edits on Kochi, India article

[edit]

Hi Prathambhu, The JNPT (Mumbai) and Chennai ports are having transhipment facilities now. And more container terminals to accomodate bigger vessels are under construction too. Here are some links for you:

The citations provided in the article is not stating that the port will be the gateway to India. The citations says that the port will make Kochi a key centre in the shipping world. [1][2] Also see the official site of Cochin port.

Since other ports in India are on the race for becoming the premier transshipment hub, it is not factual to claim that Vallarpadam is expected to be the gateway to India. Let us go by unbiased opinions in wiki. Cheers, -- Rajith Mohan (Talk to me..) 11:23, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edits

[edit]

Hello Prathambu, Your edits on Kochi page is irrelevant to the page. The article is a Featured Article in Wikipedia. It is the only featured article under the Kerala Work group. Making attempts to glorify the city can result in losing the FA status. Let me explain the why the changes were reverted:

  • Your edit: It has an estimated population of 600,000, with an extended metropolitan population of about 1.5 million, making it the largest urban agglomeration and the second largest city in Kerala after the capital. : Why this was removed from the lead? * the industrial and commercial capital of Kerala - This sentence is not suited to be in the lead section, as it is not an officially declared status. Moreover, this is already added in the Economy section.
  • Kochi experienced decades of economic stagnation from independence until 2003 - This is based upon the GDP. I will soon provide the figures. If you are so particular on this, you can remove it as of now.
  • However Kochi and the surrounding areas in the district of Ernakulam contributes the lion's share of the tax revenue of the Government of Kerala through the commercial tax generated in here - This is for the UA of Kochi, and should be entered in the Economy of Kochi or here Kochi metropolitan area.

Your edits in Kochi city page

[edit]

It seems that you are so interested to overtone the article. It is already mentioned in the lead, that Kochi is the commercial hub of Kerala. It is again mentioned in the starting of Economy section that Kochi is the economic capital of Kerala. Why adding the same again?

Economic stagnation definitely depends upon GDP. If you observe the GDP, there was no increase in the percentages till 2003. Later, the whole state economy began to show growing signs, and Kochi too. Economic stagnation doesnt means economically poor. Rich countries can also be stagnant, when their economy is not showing signs of growth for a prolonged periond.

The tax details is not particular about the city. The page is about the Kochi city. So, its more good to enter the details in Kochi metropolitan area. Too much details are not needed in the main article. However we can mention that in the article, but definitely not in this overtoned manner.

Why you have changed " unlike other South Indian cities " to " unlike other South Indian metros "? This is a page about the Kochi city; not its UA.

Hope this clarifies. --Samaleks (talk) 06:27, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mr.; It seems that you are loving your city too much. That is what is provocating you to blindly add colourful images to the city page. Please understand that, here in wikipedia, we follow many guidelines. First read those carefully before jumping in to making changes to the article. If you not going with consensus, and reverting too much, you can be blocked from editing wikipedia.

Let me again tell you, that the article is about the Kochi city; not the UA. Read the article fully first. Atleast read the infobox. Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Area, Population, density, etc is only for the city. Also see the website given. It is the website of the Cochin corporation.

If have gone through the article, you can see that the infopark is mentioned stating that it lies in he outskirts of the city. There is NO reference about FACT or HMT. The Eloor industrial belt is mentioned in the article, saying that it is 17 kms away from the city. The same is the case with CIAL. There are no detailed descriptions about these; just mentioning is there(after clearly stating that these are in the suburbs).

Let me again hope that you will stay away from negetive editing and contribute positively--Samaleks (talk) 15:00, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please mind your tone of language used in talk pages. Be polite; if possible. --Samaleks (talk) 15:04, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm 58.68.91.114. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions because it didn't appear constructive. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks!

Checked the link you gave. The contested places falls under the section 'Wider Region around Kochi City'. Its not within the city. It also includes places like Cherthala, Thalayolaparambu which are not even in the Ernakulam district. Its just a development plan for the future not relevant to the article on Kochi city. You should add that in the Kochi metropolitan page. 58.68.91.114 (talk) 10:29, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please read carefully the section 1.2 of the document, Development Plan, Kochi City Region, Town Planning Department, Govt of Kerala from the website of Corporation of Cochin for the details of the proposed Kochi city region (KCR) for 2031. Please note that that is just a proposal and even Aluva doesn't fall there let alone villages like Aikaranad. 58.68.91.114 (talk) 10:40, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stop making false vandalism claims here just to get someone else's edits reverted. This is strongly discouraged and repeated offences of this type may result in consequences. 58.68.91.114 (talk) 12:22, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Mollywood-Kochi.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mollywood-Kochi.jpg, which you've sourced to http://www.passlinebusinessmagazine.com/archives/. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

Blocked

[edit]
You have been blocked temporarily from editing for abuse of editing privileges. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

The User:ChroniclerSanjay account was created on 21 January 2013 leaving technical evidence that it was created by Prathambhu. The two accounts then edited Malayalam cinema to the same purpose, and supported each other in an editing dispute. The ChroniclerSanjay account has been indefinitely blocked, and this account has been blocked for one week. SilkTork ✔Tea time 13:29, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Prathambhu (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I understand that the reason cited for blocking my account is "creating an account User:ChroniclerSanjay". First of all, I have not created User:ChroniclerSanjay or any other accounts on wikipedia. I never faced a situation on wikipedia that demanded such a "partner". During the dispute in Malayalam cinema page, several usernames and IPs broadly supported my points. User:ChroniclerSanjay, User:Richardmelathu etc are some them. Other than giving a broad support to the points I raised, they had their own points of view and mode of operations. Many times their activities were against what I advocated in this dispute. Sometimes I had used their talk page to modestly convey my displeasure at their activities that hindered the progress of my work towards a resolution. I was able to plead with administrators and convince them to initiate a discussion. This had resulted in a consensus. Users like the above, had done nothing to help my requests for administrator intervention. I had succeeded in being part of a consensus despite such unhelpful stand taken by these users. Probably the only user who did not agree to consensus was User:ChroniclerSanjay as indicated by Administrator SilkTork's comment, please see comment. Hence it is clear that not only had I not benefited from User:ChroniclerSanjay or any such users but their activities actually caused hindrances to me. Making me account for such people's activities seems very unfair. I am neither for nor against any action on user User:ChroniclerSanjay - I do not know him or his other activities on wiki. Therefore my request is not just to lift the 1 week ban on my account immediately. Most importantly, I request you to enquire into every bit of information (history, activities, IP addresses or any other info) available to wiki about User:ChroniclerSanjay. I hope that can clear my name which is wrongly associated with such people. Sincerely, Prathambhu (talk) 21:23, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

The principal activity of ChroniclerSanjay has been cooperating with this account in edit wars on several articles. That alone would be sufficient evidence to justify the block. However, that is not all. We also see the two accounts, despite what you say, substantially supporting one another in a talk page dispute. Then we see that the two of you have been editing from the same IP address (it is not even necessary to be a checkuser to see proof of that). Then we have a checkuser telling us that there is technical evidence that you created the other account. Are we to believe that, by an amazing coincidence, someone you don't even know comes along and repeats the same, or almost the same, edits that you have made over and over again on several articles, does almost no editing on any page that you are not involved in, happens by a remarkable coincidence to be editing from the same IP address as you, happens by a remarkable coincidence to leave spurious evidence making it look as though you created the account? Far from unblocking, I have seriously considered whether to increase the length of the block after this thoroughly disingenuous unblock request. JamesBWatson (talk) 12:39, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
