Wiki Med
Hi
I'm contacting you because, as a participant at Wikiproject Medicine, you may be interested in a new non-profit organization we're forming at m:WikiMed. Our purpose is to help improve the range and quality of free online medical content, and we'll be working with like-minded organizations, such as the World Health Organization, professional and scholarly societies, medical schools, governments and NGOs - including Translators Without Borders.
Hope to see you there! Anthonyhcole (talk) 04:32, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- Very interesting. Indeed, see you there. Not sure of content contributions this year, but after finishing up some academic commitments on my end, I think I can contribute more to content from late next year. I will certainly participate in discussions this year. prashanthns (talk) 09:22, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

- There is a photo here on the FRLHT ENVIS site. But were you looking for free images? prashanthns (talk) 10:36, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
The Wikipedia Library now offering accounts from Cochrane Collaboration (sign up!)
The Wikipedia Library gets Wikipedia editors free access to reliable sources that are behind paywalls. Because you are signed on as a medical editor, I thought you'd want to know about our most recent donation from Cochrane Collaboration.
- Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization that conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.
- Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account.
- If you are still active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)

Disambiguation link notification for November 2
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. Medical Translation Newsletter Aug./Sept. 2014
Medical Translation Newsletter
Issue 2, Aug./Sept. 2014
by CFCF
Feature – Ebola articles
During August we have translated Disease and it is now live in more than 60 different languages! To help us focus on African languages Rubric has donated a large number of articles in languages we haven't previously reached–so a shout out them, and Ian Henderson from Rubric who's joined us here at Wikipedia. We're very happy for our continued collaboration with both Rubric and Translators without Borders!
- Just some of our over 60 translations:
- New roles and guides!
At Wikimania there were so many enthusiastic people jumping at the chance to help out the Medical Translation Project, but unfortunately not all of them knew how to get started. That is why we've been spending considerable time writing and improving guides! They are finally live, and you can find them at our home-page!
- New sign up page!
We're proud to announce a new sign up page at WP:MTSIGNUP! The old page was getting cluttered and didn't allow you to speficy a role. The new page should be easier to sign up to, and easier to navigate so that we can reach you when you're needed!
- Style guides for translations
Translations are of both full articles and shorter articles continues. The process where short articles are chosen for translation hasn't been fully transparent. In the coming months we hope to have a first guide, so that anyone who writes medical or health articles knows how to get their articles to a standard where they can be translated! That's why we're currently working on medical good lede criteria! The idea is to have a similar peer review process to good article nominations, but only for ledes.
- Some more stats
- In July, 18 full article translations went live (WP:RTT), and an additional 6 simplified versions went live (WP:RTTS)!
- We have a number of new lead integrators into Dutch, Polish, Arabic and Bulgarian, with more to come in smaller languages! (Find them here old sign up page)
- We were mentioned in a Global Voices Online report by Subhashish Panigrahi at Doctors and translators are working together to bridge Wikipedia's medical language gap
- New medical professionals have started, dedicated to working in Odiya and Kinyarwanda!
- Further reading
- Translators Without Borders

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Last minute search for jurors for the upcoming Wiki Science Competition
Hi, I don't know if you crossed some of the messages I left on English or French or Spanish wikipedia, wikidata, commons and wikiversity about this event.
I am checking with Ivo Kruusamägi from Wikimedia Estonia the composition of the final jury. We did our best to keep it balanced by continent, gender, field etc but in the end it is still a little bit eurocentric. I mean, it is good they are not all from Estonia and Italy, but of course it could have been better. Finding 15 names (and other one for more national juries) to volunteer was not so easy, in the end. I did gather some "maybes" from China and India in private that might be used next time, including people in national juries that we can promote but so far I could only reduce the gender unbalance.
I hope that the results will promote science around the globe in any case. As a last appropriate effort now that more urgent issues have been addressed and we are finalizing the main organization, I am looking all the profiles of active wikimedians from or related to Africa, South American Oceania or Asia with a possible public name and surname (as a form of transparency, jurors should be public figures) and a scientific or technological education or position. Like yours.
Would you be interested in joining us to be a juror in the second-level jury? I am sure that next time we will find new additional contacts and I will not contact you at the last minute. Of course, if we can finally get two or three new names, we can promote one of them, with the best scientific background, to the final jury too.
At the moment only indians are replying to me, I have another two names, we might promote one of you to the top jury. Next year you can create a national competition (but probably not this time, there is not enough time left).
Even you don't have time, could you help us also in promoting the event amongst people you know or mailing lists or groups you have joined? This will be also useful to promote more national juries next time. It was already hard to organize one in parallel to this, we did our best to promote initiatives on all the continents.
In any case thank you in advance. As a possible juror I have already started your wikidata item d: Q42084642--Alexmar983 (talk) 05:58, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- Nice initiative. Thanks for the details. I am happy to participate. Let me know what's expected of me. prashanthns (talk) 12:47, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- send me an email so I can put yours in the ML of jurors. We already have two other indians, User:Manavpreet Kaur and User:Pavanaja, so india is covered even if it does not have a national jury.
- Jurors are expected to check the pictures and evaluate them. The bigger number of jurors we can get, the lower is their workload. Of course we don't know the final output, but jurors has weeks to complete their tasks so it should be diluted. We are very flexible.--Alexmar983 (talk) 14:26, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Skrömta
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Skrömta requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. StraussInTheHouse (talk) 16:16, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
Nomination of Skrömta for deletion
A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Skrömta is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Skrömta until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. StraussInTheHouse (talk) 18:13, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
