Good job on updating the article. I've removed the YouTube links again, as I don't think they meet our external linking policy. See also WP:ELPEREN. Normally, we minimize links. If there is a single page or directory which lists all the YouTube videos in one place, that would be preferable. Yworo (talk) 18:01, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for the compliment, Yvoro. Would it be O.K. if I give all these YouTube links in Wiki Commons?
Also, could you remove the comment: "This article needs additional citations for verification. Please help improve this article by adding citations to reliable sources. Unsourced material may be challenged and removed. (June 2009)" It is seems outdated. Or is it possible, and would it be O.K. if I remove this comment?
PiotrPrajski (talk) 05:21, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
Hi Yvoro, I reviewed the external linking policy. I do not believe that the YouTube links that I proposed in any way contradict this policy. Linking to YouTube is not forbidden and can be found on Wikipedia articles on other spiritual leaders, such as Vivekananda, Nisargadatta, and others. All the links that I propose have their merits for inclusion in this particular article. The links to the films from Haidakhan Babaji's death and burial serve to balance some perhaps unjustified claims of his followers. Links to Shammi Kapoor's films about Babaji confirm that he was Babaji's follower, which is mentioned in the article. Two of the linked films show Babaji moving, taking a bath, etc., thus giving a reader a plethora of information that would otherwise be too aboundant for inclusion in the article itself. In the end I give links to three pieces of music inspired by Babaji - one specifically on his teaching of "Truth Simplicity and Love" that is mentioned in the article. This is all relevant to the article and would make it more interesting.
That is why, with your acceptance, I would like to reinclude the chapter "Other media." If you want I can trim it a bit (for instance, give links to one film about Babaji's burial, one interview with Shammi Kapoor, etc.). Can we have agreement about it?
Best regards, Piotr RajskiPrajski (talk) 17:04, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
- Well, there is another serious problem with YouTube - we can only link to videos that can be proven to have been posted either by the copyright holder or with permission of the copyright holder. This applies not only to the video, but to the music used in the video. If someone makes a video that includes say, music by Anoushka Shankar, then we need evidence that she gave permission for her music to be used in a video posted to YouTube. The Shammi Kapoor video appears to have been posted by Shammi Kapoor ... but anyone can make up any user name on YouTube so that is far from certain. I left that one but removed the rest... because there is no evidence whatsover that the videos are not copyright violations, either posted without permission of the video creator, or including recordings which the creator did not give permission to use and/or publicly post. The burden of proving that the video and music are not violating copyright falls to the editor wanting to include the links. Wikipedia can never link to YouTube videos unless copyright provenance is known: Wikipedia could be sued for contributory copyright infingement if we do, so this is a non-negotiable restriction, and it's generally best not to link to YouTube at all. Hello Prajski, please do not restore the Babadżi article again. This is the English Wikipedia, therefore all content must be in English.--Jac16888 Talk 11:54, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
Hi Jac16888, sorry, it is not my intention to publish Babadzi in English Wikipedia. I was under the impression that I am in sandbox, and that English and Polish Wikipedia are on the same platform. This article can be removed from English Wikipedia. I am not quite sure how to do it. Prajski (talk) 04:50, 26 November 2012 (UTC) prajski
- It's already been removed. You can find the Polish Wikipedia here--Jac16888 Talk 17:54, 26 November 2012 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Leonard Orr in Sierraville, 2010.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Leonard Orr in Sierraville, 2010.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 10:57, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
Leonard Orr's pictures
[edit]Dear Peripitus, both the the images I used in the article are publicaly available on Leonard Orr's web pages. If I get links to these pictures, would it solve the problem? Kind regards, Prajski (talk) 18:57, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
- The issue for Wikipedia is that he is still alive. A freely licensed image could be taken of him. All of the images on his website are copyrighted, and Wikipedia does not host such copyrighted images of living people. The reason behind this is that Wikipedia aims to host freely licensed content (hence the slogan "The Free Encyclopedia") that can be reused by others. You could email him asking for a freely licenced image for use on his Wikipedia article. see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials - Peripitus (Talk) 22:10, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
Dear Peripitus, I don't believe Orr would bother. If I emailed him the two images I intend to use, and he emailed be back stating that he is O.K. with using on these images in the Wikipedia article, would it be sufficient? Kind regards, prajski.Prajski (talk)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Haidakhan Babaji Kumaon Mount Kailash 1970.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Haidakhan Babaji Kumaon Mount Kailash 1970.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
