Power Boy edits

[edit]

Thanks for the additions to Power Boy, but your edits are just a extremely detailed summary of maybe 5 comics. Wikipedia is not a plot summary. I've tagged the section with {{plot}} going to edit it down to a couple paragraphs. --William Graham talk 05:29, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty much every fictional character on Wikipedia has detailed information on every aspect of that character's history. One could call everything writen about a character plot summary. Or could call it character history. So I wasn't trying to have it be about the plot of any comic itself, I was simply trying to list the characters history as a hero, personal traits, the languages they speak, relationship history, origin story, and death. All a characters main appearences and what they done in those appearences help to show those things. And who the character really is should be included in a fair and non-biased article. Power Boy III only had four major comic appearences, Supergirl #13, #14, and #15, and his death in Teen Titans East Special #1. So isn't like is ten or twenty appearences. Plus given that is so little info on the previous versions, and with the characters recent death, it isn't likely that any new character info will be added again. So is no risk of the article growing out of control, like many of the other articles on Wikipedia. His origin story alone would take a paragraph to explain in a fair way. So I hope that more than just a few lines are left remaining.

Regardless, I respect you, and everyone else on Wikipedia. Wiki is a great place to find about about every subject, and learn new things you never knew. So I only wanted to help improve the site by adding the most up-to-date and accurate information on a given subject. And not have articles that are clearly written by someone that hates a character, so had them called a supervillian when they aren't. Anyway, thank you for the constructive criticism. I'm fairly new at this, and am always trying to learn, and not make any major mistakes. I'll eventually figure out how to summarize better, and how to structure an article properly.

Til then will probably just stick more with correcting typos, adding references, and helping cite sources to the various articles that need attention. That's a bit easier to do, and doesn't take as long either. Anyway, I hope you have super rest of the week, and happy holidays.Powergirl (talk) 06:22, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Power Boy and plot summaries

[edit]

I think it would be beneficial for you to read WP:PLOT and WP:WAF. Your edits on the talk page argue for extreme detail that is minutiae and trivia.

I would also suggest you tone down advocating for a fictional character. Power Boy is a fiction character and trying to defend his honor comes off as nonsensical. --William Graham talk 16:15, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The current version of the Power Boy article provides little to no details at all. It's not just the third Powerboy, but the first and second that have little to nothing written about them. It just says what comics they was in, but little more than that. Most other comic characters seem to have every detail from every major storyline they done mentioned. Most even have sections on Relationships. So okay it's not important to let readers know anything about what the 3rd Powerboy done in Supergirl #11, #13, #14, #15, or #19. I'm sure that standard only applies to this one character or the ones you don't like, cause every other comic character has tons of details written on them from all of their major appearances. And again how can it be plot summary when he was only in the last couple pages of Supergirl #11. It just shows a red beam hitting the side of a ship, which is Powerboy in red energy form I might add, then shows Grace being saved at super-speed, and finishes with Powerboy punching out a Shark Lady to save the gutted Supergirl's life. That isn't plot summary, that's character history. Plot summary for that issue would be about Supergirl joining the Outsiders and everything she done with Nightwing, Boomer, and Grace over the course of the comic. Just as him being Supergirl's boyfriend, fighting the League of Assassins, among other things from issues #13-15 is character history. Also personal attacks over someone expressing their views on a certain fictional character is silly. I respect different points of view, and want all articles not to be watered down to the point where they tell nothing other than a characters name and what they appeared in. And I'm not defending any characters honor, I'm wanting the truth written about a character based on what they actually done in their comic book appearances. My views are based on logic and reason, of what actually happened in the comics, and not on personal attacks and character hate. But like I said, I'm not editing the article. All the negativity and mean spiritedness has totally turned me off to doing anything on Wikipedia.Powergirl (talk) 22:12, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
