Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Polskojezyczny. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Andrzej Lewandowski, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 03:00, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I believe you said you were the webmaster for Dr. Lewandoski's official website while we were connected on IRC channel #wikipedia-en-help. That represents a relationship that the Wikipedia community would consider PAID, whether or not you are receiving payment. The instructions above point to some ways to make your disclosure. I recommend that you write a simple statement describing your relationship with your subject on your user page.
Once you have made your disclosure, we can talk in more detail about why your draft has been declined. If you want to get a head start, please see the advice at your first article; that covers some of the important points that are missing from how you were approaching writing the draft. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 03:09, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

draft and references

[edit]

I wanted to say a few more things about the draft and explain why it took reviewers so little time to decide to decline the draft. It is no reflection on the accomplishments of Lewandoski, but it is rather a criticism of the effort you put into the process of creating a draft. Here are the three main points:

  1. the draft reads as promotional
  2. the sources listed at the bottom as references do not appear to be independent, in-depth reporting about him that would be required material to support a biography
  3. for an article of this type, the reviewers expect to see an inline citation for every statement or claim (footnotes)

Wikipedia cannot be used for promotion and the community will strongly resist efforts to advertise. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 04:49, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
