Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, PluviAl, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Hello, I'm Jim1138. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Energy tower (downdraft), but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Jim1138 (talk) 02:57, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note. wp:RCPs, such as me will see your edits almost immediately. As making lists of unsourced edits and following up on them is rather difficult and time consuming. So, unfortunately, the policy, essentially is, sources need to be added with your edit.
However, all is not lost. You can "undo" my edit (just as I undid yours). Go to the page's history, or just click this link. Then, click the left column radio button on the line with your last edit and the right radio button on next to my undo. Then, click the grey "Compare selected versions" button at the top of the radio column buttons. Or, click here. Then click the "Undo" link at the top of the right column. Add your citations and click "Show preview". Verify that what you added is correct. Check the references section and verify that the reference are correctly formatted. Then, click the "Save button".

If edits are complicated, you can add sources and such to the articles talk page such as talk:Energy tower (downdraft). Then with each edit, add "see talk page for references". Or just use your sandbox: User talk:PluviAl/sandbox to make and test a paragraph or two and copy them to the article.

See wp:verifiability for policy on citing sources. wp:reliable sources (RS) for policy on what constitutes a reliable source. wp:cite on how to add a source to a page. template:cite web, template:cite book, template:cite journal for templates which help formatting citations. A good way to figure out how to use templates can be done by editing a page that has lots of well-written citations in the References section and search the page for "cite web", etc. Basically, the format of a cite web might look like:
<ref name= "white house">{{cite web |url= http://www.whitehouse.gov |title= US White House home page |date= (date of publication, if available) |accessdate= (today's date) |publisher= [[White House]] }}</ref> (leave out the 'nowikis') This would show up as.[1]

My usual spiel: People want to be able to verify information on Wikipedia. So, significant edits need have their content cited using reliable sources. See verifiablity. This means that information must be published, and presumably vetted, by reliable groups and individuals. What you should do is to locate a source that supports the edit you wish to make. Then add a citation to that. Peruse wp:welcome to learn about editing Wikipedia. You can also visit the Teahouse for information and assistance. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a note on my talk page. You can add a description of your expertise on your user page: User:PluviAl, if you wish. Welcome and Happy editing! Your draft article, User:PluviAl/sandbox

[edit]

Hello PluviAl. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "sandbox".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by one of two methods (don't do both): 1) follow the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13, or 2) copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|User:PluviAl/sandbox}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, and click "Save page". An administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 13:50, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
