Regarding your latest edit, in which you stated in your edit summary, "That reference does not take you to any article, just to the Wiki entry for the newspaper", references do not have to take you anywhere. While references can indeed be linked if the source is an online one, that source isn't an online one. It's a hardcopy print newspaper article, and I even indicated the page numbers in which the story is found, which you can see when you look at where it's listed in the References section. You could see it there even after you removed that one paragraph, that one paragraph was sixth time in the article that that source was cited. (This is why there are letters next to the numeral where it's listed in the Ref section.) It's cited five previous times prior to that one paragraph, and once again after it, for a total of seven times. The fact that the phrase "Union City Reporter" is wikilinked to its Wikipedia article is unrelated to this. Many times you'll see the names of publications wikilinked where they are mentioned in citations if there happens to be a Wikipedia article on them, and you'll see this elsewhere in that section: Newsvine, Associated Press, This Week with Christiane Amanpour, etc. are all wikilinked to those publication's articles, which is separate from the light blue links to the source's online page.
