Names & Article Leads

[edit]

Hi. I have been reverting some of the recent edits you've made to articles about actors and other celebrities because you've introduced details that are not sourced or have violated the Wikipedia manual of style. For instance, please stop revising biographical ledes by making the first mention of an actor or celebrity his/her birth name. Per the manual of style, the first name listed should be the one by which the individual was most commonly known. The exception to this is when the most commonly known name is a pseudonym, which is not the case with, for example, Angie Dickinson.

In addition, on Wikipedia, ending punctuation should be kept outside quotation marks, again per the MOS. Grandpallama (talk) 16:40, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Marla Gibbs, did not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page.

You have been repeatedly warned about inserting unsourced or improperly sourced material in articles and about inappropriate style changes (such as bolding names in inappropriate places). Continuing to edit in this manner will result in a block, because it is disruptive. Please consult the links in this warning and familiarize yourself with how to edit in an acceptable manner. ArbCom 2017 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, Pizzamaniac16. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Andy Griffith, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Beck (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:12, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
