removal of material

[edit]

I fully understand the undue weight policy. That material has been stable on the page for several years now. I will be replacing the material later. I do not want to break the 3 revert rule. --Ghostexorcist (talk) 20:07, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is not insignificant that some people or groups take Hitler or other Nazis to be the Kalki, especially if they borrow the concept from Hinduism. But I don't think that links to websites should be given in the text: the claim should be simply sourced in the conventional way. Also there have been more notable persons claiming to be the Kalki that are not included in the page. Hoverfish Talk 21:26, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well I hadn't realized it was part of a stable article. I thought it had just been put there -- and the name Ghostexorcist sounded like a Neo-Nazi. I might have been quick to judge. But it does seem to me that such an odd notion of Hitler as Kalki (which I can't imagine is a very common view) is exactly the kind of belief that Jimbo Wales was talking about in his quote which I put here.

From Jimbo Wales, paraphrased from this post from September 2003 on the mailing list: If a viewpoint is in the majority, then it should be easy to substantiate it with reference to commonly accepted reference texts; If a viewpoint is held by a significant minority, then it should be easy to name prominent adherents; If a viewpoint is held by an extremely small (or vastly limited) minority, it does not belong in Wikipedia (except perhaps in some ancillary article) regardless of whether it is true or not; and regardless of whether you can prove it or not.

But I'll save my energy for other battles. Thanks. Pippa17 (talk) 23:46, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Point taken, thanks too. Hoverfish Talk 14:34, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your improvements reg. Sathya Sai Baba. I cannot improve the article myself because was topic banned (except for talk page) by arbcom because of what they see as having a conflict of interest. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
